It's likely an issue with SiiTech's servers. That happens to every website from time to time. We've seen it happen with BCF's website in the past, and even this one.

oh noes! that's weaksauce ;D I was curious about whether 'weaksauce' has been accepted into the mainstream language, since so many pop terms do eventually become part of acceptable English. Apparently, the free Oxford online dictionary isn't quite ready to take on a term that according to one source started out as a reference to wimpy taco sauce. Oxford asks: No exact results found for "weaksauce" in the dictionary. Did you mean weakside?
Did you mean alsace?
Did you mean versace?
Did you mean weaksides? Versace? Weaksauce? Could be a lawsuit there...

...Should we really be taunting the guy with the bad grammar to such a degree? I don't think we're taunting the original poster specifically. I think we're just all being a bit silly by playing on a role that has irked all of us from time to time. We're having some good therapy time, based on our painful experiences of reading that style of writing and thinking of that style of self-awareness. ...good self-awareness (or maybe it's "situational awareness," or a combination of the two) will usually overcome any grammar shortcomings. And a lack of that awareness will usually invite this kind of parody-therapy.... ;D

re SiiTech:
I've just noticed that ships near/at Prince Rupert are showing up on SiiTech.
I think this is new, because I've not noticed it before.
....it will be fun watching the AMHS, BCFS and cruise ship traffic around that area for routes and timing and of course to see which ships are moving.

I have been looking around on SiiTech and yes, Rupert is in there. I have also been checking out the northern end of Vancouver Island and SiiTech shows the NorEx as being south bound heading across Queen Charlotte Sound in the direction of Port Hardy. I would guess perhaps that she has already done a dock trial at the new Klemtu terminal.

Siitech and marine Traffic both use AIS for their information, so why does marine traffic.com not pick traffic up in the Prince Rupert Area?

Because internet AIS doesn't cover all areas of the world. The AIS system that siitech has is volunteers with tracking devices in localized areas, which they publish to the internet. Their receivers only cover a certain radius from which they're positioned. Siitech and Marine Traffic are also two different companies, therefore different volunteers providing the coverage. For more info from Siitech themselves: www.siitech.com/Products/AIS_Server.htm

Click this button , and select a ship, and you will see between 30 minutes and an hour of location history, shown as little dots on the map.

There seems to be a base station near Alliford Bay which should cover the mid section of Hecate Strait but that seems to be a dead zone.

seascanner.com is a good one for cruise ship tracking! It's shows you the intended route and everything, departure, arrival times, and so on, miles between ports, remaining miles and so on. It's mostly a cruise ship tracker though.
