I wonder if shutting down route 17 in storm season in favor of a seasonal Sechelt to Nanaimo (DPB) route might be worth the trouble and cost. A Sechelt to Nanaimo route would mean 4+ extra hours of driving for anyone going from Powell River to Comox (or vice versa) but, given the better weather in the area, be much less likely to leave people waiting 4-24 hours for a sailing. Four hours driving vs. as many hours of unpredictable delays is a toss-up in terms of desirability.
Or, just run winter service from Langdale to DPB and tell the residents of the northern sunshine coast to deal with it....

Not too sure what to make of this:
Unplanned, unexpected, and unscheduled preventative maintenance? That's usually a contradiction in terms.

There is a service notice posted about this. Speculation time! If the berth is indeed damaged too much to safely use, will they just undertake some minor fix-it work, or might they commence this Spring's berth rebuild early, just to get it over with without having to do all the work twice?

There was a service notice released earlier this afternoon informing of mechanical issues with SoVI's steam table in the Pacific Buffet. As this affected the serving of hot food, the 18:00 sailing only served the light buffet.
This was the first time I have seen a service notice caused by a steam table... ;D ;D

Jordan and I are on the Nanaimo as the ship undergoes a medical emergency. We have returned to Tsawwassen after pulling the tightest 180 degree turned I've personally ever experienced on any non-RAD equipped ship. More to come

Any further news on Nanaimo's quick turn? I haven't seen anything in the usual online news sources?
From the look of the MarineTraffic position track, Nanaimo got back to TSA as fast as possible. The Nanaimo is not often seen making 15 knots.

Service disruptions on routes #2 and #30 due to congestion at DPB and seasonal high traffic loads:

Keep in mind the vessel continued moving at a decent speed during this as well.
