Here's a video that I think is of Today's trip on Carrier Princess from Tilbury to Nanaimo downtown. February 10, 2017.
A unique view of that everyday journey.

Another Carrier Princess voyage timelapse, this time from Tilbury to Swartz Bay. - and I think it sees the Bowen Queen in the strait.
Thanks for videographer & mariner Michon Yardley for this.

Notice she has her first glance at a "Queen" Which is the largest Queen she will ever see and will probably live well past the last days of our Queen ferries. I would assume that crews on the Reliant would have catch a glimpse of the Queen Mary inbound even if its just the top of the vessel.

I would assume that crews on the Reliant would have catch a glimpse of the Queen Mary inbound even if its just the top of the vessel. ... And, if they have good hearing, they may hear the QUEEN MARY's mighty whistle sounding each hour during the daytime, if she still does this. I heard it a few times when staying aboard her for the night and touring her during the day back in the spring of 1975. Go to YouTube.com and search for Queen Mary whistle. One of her three whistles was transferred to the newer QUEEN MARY 2 (that's why you see the whistle missing on her amidships funnel). I call the big high pressure tuba stop of the Seattle Symphony's pipe organ the " Queen Mary Stop". Such a penetrating sound, just like what you hear from that ocean liner!

We know that the Seaspan Swift is in service, and has been for about a month now. Do we know whether its propulsion system is operating as intended as a dual fuel hybrid? The S Swift has the claim to fame, I am fairly sure, of being the first LNG fuelled vessel to operate on Canada's west coast.

Seaspan Reliant is boarding a pilot off Victoria on Saturday at 07:00. River pilot change off Steveston at 11:00. Quite firm as ordered by agent, rather than the ship"s Master.

The SEASPAN RELIANT is now entering the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Her days on the open ocean seas are drawing to a close. If anyone is awake early Saturday morning, tap into the Race Rocks website to see her pass by on the Race Rocks webcam: www.racerocks.ca/video-cameras/

The SEASPAN RELIANT was off Race Rocks at the time of this posting.
No pics to display as she appeared as a tiny white dot.

News regarding the old Seaspan berth & ramp at the Wellcox rail yard in Nanaimo: "SVI" is Southern Railway Vancouver Island. Seaspan Ferries will soon be operating exclusively from Duke Point, for their Nanaimo traffic. - How soon precisely, I'm not sure. from HERE

Both companies are of course Washington group companies. That is worth noting. Will the SVI compete for business with Seaspan Ferries? It seems unlikely ...

Seaspan Reliant goes into Service:
I have been looking at the Seaspan Ferry Sched and the Seaspan Reliant is to enter service on April 17 with the 23:00 departure from Tilbury to Swartz Bay. She is to deapart Swartz Bay at 04:30 back to Tilbury. (Early Morning April 18)
So Far the Swift and the Reliant are not Sched for Nanaimo Service.
Look on the April 10-17 Sched.

So Far the Swift and the Reliant are not Sched for Nanaimo Service. I read somewhere they won't be used on the Nanaimo run. They will go to Duke Point when the terminal there is finished.

Swift and Reliant are too large to fit in the Nanaimo downtown berth.
If/when we see them in Nanaimo, it will be at the new Duke Point berth.

That is a bummer, especially when one does not have a car to get to Jack Point Park to get pictures of them heading for Duke Point. I guess Descanso Bay RDN Park on Gabriola will be my best Hope of getting a pictures, or If I am lucky enough to be on the Quinsam when they arrive or depart.
