This thread is getting stale like an old loaf of bread again. So, I thought I'd better wake this neat part of this forum up with a ring of an alarm clock bell and present you with this neat photo identification quiz. Today, I'll present you with something a bit different. The below picture is from a classic teen magazine and features a neat looking vessel that ferried freight around our waters. Who is the celebrity at the window? What city is this located? What is this structure/building? What is the name of that vessel that ferried freight? What is the date? I'll give you until the day when you unwrap your goodies that man in red and white left you while you were sleeping (if you were a good fellow or lady, that is). Oh, BTW, I masked out that address so you don't mail letters bounced back to you like what a famous singer recorded years ago. ;D HAVE FUN WITH THIS ONE!

It's a Beatle...Ringo? Seattle The Edgewater Looks like the Indian Um. early 1960's. I can't remember when the Beatles were at the Edgewater as it happened several years before my birth, but I believe it was 63-64.

ANSWERS "Egfleet", you have three of five answers correct! Flip Teen Magazine, April 1968. Who is the celebrity at the window? DAVY JONES OF THE MONKEES What city is this located? SEATTLE What is this structure/building? THE EDGEWATER INN What is the name of that vessel that ferried freight? MV INDIAN What is the date? AUGUST 1967Micky Dolenz tour album. In 1967, the Monkees did a major tour. They used a former American Airlines Douglas DC-6 four engine propeller plane. The aft lounge aboard this plane had a turntable and the fellows, in the best reliable information I've dug, played Beatles' records at flight level. I call this part of their plane the "Sgt. Pepper Lounge". The Monkees performed their Seattle concert on August 25, 1967. After that, it was on to Portland and Spokane and it was back to Los Angeles for them to film their Second Season of television episodes, 1967-1968. They filmed one episode aboard an old powered schooner named SEA DOG. "Hitting the High Seas" was this one. They later were on course of buying the SEA DOG, but she mysteriously sank as they were about to sign the final papers. Flip Teen Magazine, January 1968. Flip Teen Magazine, January 1968. As a bonus for you, here are some photos of them at the Edgewater in 1967. Some went to a bait store on the waterfront to get a line and a hook. In those days, you could fish out your window. No catch, though. But they had fun anyway. In one of these photos, you could barely see Seattle's new ferry terminal at Pier 52 (see the green circle). You can also see the dock where the PRINCESS MARGUERITE sailed from each day on her trips to Victoria (see the red circle). Good old Pier 64 was that one. Very fun to see Seattle's waterfront in the perspective of a teen magazine devoted to the favorite bands of the teen aged folks. And, before the Kingdome was built!Pacific Steamboats. This is the MV INDIAN of Puget Sound Freight Lines. She ferried freight on our coastal waters. Her stack looked similar to the MV VASHON's.
