Here is something odd at Tsawwassen that I noticed when I sped-up my video.
- Queen of New Westminster is in berth-4, idle. The video is taken at 7:45am as the Coastal Renaissance departs berth-3. Queen of New Westminster doesn't start service until noon.
Maybe it's just a fluke of timing, but as Coastal Renaissance leaves the terminal, the New Westminster slides over against the dolphin, as if it were pushed there by "Coastal Forces."

Why does the Queen of New Westminster have two sets of stern doors? One door set stays open all the time and second one is closed most of time excluding when she is loading at her stern.

Those aren't doors. They're likely added support for the upper car deck apron, since she was designed to able to carry light trucks on her upper cardeck when she was lifted in 1991.

Queen of New Westminster seen at Tsawwassen terminal. - 8:00pm on June 2, 2013. She is moving from berth 5 (where she just unloaded traffic from her last trip of the day) to berth 2 (where she will sleep). - I'm on the bow of the about-to-depart Queen of Alberni, in berth-3, and she is right in front of me.

My friend caught the 1600 sailing of the New West from Tsawwassen yesterday, and it docked in Swartz Bay's berth 2. SiiTech also showed the New West used berth 2 on her 1000 departure today. Any ideas why? The Spirits are still using berth 1, so that rules out any equipment problems with that berth.

Just a few moments ago, I managed to capture some photos of the New West in Berth 2. Apparently her loud bow thruster engines have caused a some reasons for complaints amongst Lands End residents. Now she must use Berth 2 from now on whenever possible. Queue the comments from everyone on here who doesn't think the residents should have a right to complain about the ferries right about......now! This reminds me of a time during the 90's when the residents complaint about the SOVI's bow thrusters when she was using Berth 1. I believe the two Spirits have always had different bow thrusters and nothing has changed since those complaints? Here are the photos: Swartz Bay by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr Queen of New Westminster by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr It's nice to soak in the sight of a V-Class in Swartz Bay again, especially in the Berth 2 area. Reminds me of the days when the Saanich was docked there

What I always say is dont live near the ferry terminal if you don't like the noise! Stupid people! The ferry terminal had been there since 1960 I don't think some people have lived there that long.

A blast from the past or a refreshing familiar sight? The Queen of New West in Berth 2 at Swartz Bay, just moments after arriving to conclude her 8:00am sailing. Two Deckhands on the Foc'sle just winding up one of the capstans to tighten up those bow lines so the bow thrusters can be shut down. As seen from the Skeena Queen Queen of New Westminster by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr

Queens of New Westminster & Cumberland off Swartz Bay - 13 July 2013. The QNWM was inbound to berth 2 at Swartz Bay meaning good photo opportunities from the outbound Spirit of British Columbia, which served as my 'photo perch'. Those are Washington State's Olympic Mountains in the background. photo © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr

From Miners Bay, in Active Pass: - Headed to Tsawwassen on her 10:00am sailing - exiting Active Pass, heading towards Bellehouse Park & Georgina Point area - later, on her noon sailing, headed to Swartz Bay after rounding Helen Point ================= From Georgina Point: - that hazy island in the far background in the centre of the photo is Texada Island. The Coast Mountains make a lovely background.

Nice photos, Mr. Horn. Especially liking the one with four ferries in the pass. While the New West was in place of the SOBC, I took some action photos of the New West docking in Berth 2 from aboard the Skeena in Berth 3. Since there a lot of photos on here already, feel free to click the following link to have a look. www.flickr.com/photos/ferrymanbcpix/Cheers.

I'll copy this one into the QNW thread too.
================= This is a long video compilation of approx. 10 different journeys through Active Pass by ferries. - taken from shore at Miners Bay, Mayne Island during the evening of July 14, 2013 and then from 6:15am to 12:45pm on July 15th.
Video is sped-up 2.5x, which allows you to hear and enjoy the various ship horns as they sound near/in the pass.
This video compilation includes multiple trips of the 4 Route-1 ships as well as the Route-5 ships, Route-9, and an appearance by Princess Superior. The ships appear in chronological order.
I've posted this into each of these ship's threads.
ps: this took 20 hours to upload to YouTube...

The Queen of New Westminster's journey through Active Pass at 10:45am was one of the highlights of my July 15, 2013 day of filming.
Here's a video of that 10:45am journey, along with her near Georgina Point at 2:45pm.
