A few more angles of Skyland Eye, from May 2011. - from Harbour Point near Saltery Bay: - I like the slope of Nelson Island in this shot. - a Madrona branch is an essential complement to any island sky scene.

Shots from My Trip on the Island Sky this past Friday, the 24th. It appears her Pickle Fork is Open to the Public... Makes Sense as She's not using it. View toward the Starboard Bow. Probably one of the reasons why we're allowed on this deck now can be seen on the bottom right as the gate blocking the path to the Anchoring Mechanism wasn't there before. Not to be missed is the View of the Superstructure, The View Down Below, and the View of the Deck Itself.

The pickle fork's been open on both trips that I sailed on her, both in summer 2009 and Fall 2010.

How long has the elevator been broken down now ? seems like forever, they could have built half a ship by now it seems

The Island Sky will recieve a 6 Week Refit to get the most unreliable elevator in the fleet repaired. This also confirms the Bowen Queen will replace her so plan your trips now if you want to see a Powell River Class vessel on Route 7 for the first time in 2 Decades www.bcferries.com/bcferries/faces/attachments?id=578590

What's this fenced-off area for? It looks like it could be used for an extra zodiak, but why would they need two on a ship this small? Any answers? Access point for a foot passenger walkway, if she ever serves any terminals equipped with such

Isn't that what her pickle forks are for, though? Yes, both are there to allow use of the overhead walkway. The pickle fork would be used at a place like Berth 2 or 3 at Horseshoe Bay, whereas the location photographed would be used at Berth 1 at Horseshoe Bay. I wonder why I decided to use Horseshoe Bay as an example... ;D

The Island Sky is doing dock trials at HSB as we speak. I managed to get a couple pics which I'll post when I get home.

So I ventured out to HSB to take a trip on the Cowichan and visit a friend who was at work on her, and was surprised to see the Island Sky in berth 2: Well, let's see if the overhead fits..... Oooh not quite, so they use a tape measure to calculate the "shortcomings": Later, I was talking to the terminal attendant who was operating the walkway while I took these pics, and he told me that prior to this, they had tried it with the ship up against the wingwalls closest to the walkway, and it fit fine. They were just testing various scenarios. Next, the Island Sky backs out of berth 2 and slides over to berth 1: Looks like a fine fit here:

You know, when you first see her come into view, you can say "I-Sky with my little eye..."

Here's a Video I've been trying to get uploaded for awhile now. The main hurdle was getting it into HD, but I finally solved it. I should be able to get some video tours up more frequently now that I know how to upload in HD.
So now I present you with, Views from the Island Sky.

Bc Ferries needs to upgrade or replace her elevator because it's seems it never works. Needs to work on her shacking during sailing because it is bad shacking maybe it's causing the elevator not to work.
