In the past week, the Englewood Railway's three locomotives were barged to the mainland and offloaded in Port Kells, in Surrey. Re-railed in Langley on trackage switched by SRY, they will be transported to and stored at the SRY's shops in New Westminster until a buyer is found. One was moved over the weekend, and the other two await their turn on an industrial spur in Langley. WFP 301 & 304 - Langley by Michael, on Flickr

I don't think that the Island Corridor Foundation will be coming to Shawnigan Lake anytime soon or ever.

The Hillcrest Shay #1 steam locomotive is currently nearing completion of a multi-year rebuild project. For the occasion of Labour Day weekend (September 3-5, 2022), the Shay was dressed-up and placed outside for people to get a close look at the 28-ton historic logging locomotive. The first part of the video shows the Shay locomotive being pushed back into the shed at the end of the Saturday event. Observing the Shay moving-parts in motion was amazing. The second half of the video shows various scenes earlier during the Saturday morning. I wanted to show the care and attention by the members of the rebuild team, and then to also show the fun that the various visitors were having. It was great to hear the bell ringing and to hear the steam whistle. This was seen by me on Saturday September 3, 2022 at the BC Forest Discovery Centre, in North Cowichan, on Vancouver Island. All photographs shown in this video are mine, from that day. More Information Here

Overtaken by progress ... In the foreground is the 1886 built E&N Railway, trainless for about a decade, now. Running over the top is the Nanaimo Parkway (Hwy 19) which opened in 1997 (111 years after the E&N). It is anything but vehicle-less. This is located at mile 69.5 of the E&N's Victoria Subdivision, on the south side of Nanaimo, Vancouver Island.

A friend of mine sent this to me. It is a video on RDC passenger service on Vancouver Island. It will be a pipe dream for it to ever return, but this is an enjoyable watch!
