Nice little video Seattle Times did on the opening of the Eastside line, including a statement by a Sound Transit representative towards the end of the video that explains why they opened the line now instead of waiting for the extension into Seattle, which has been delayed.

Nice little video Seattle Times did on the opening of the Eastside line, including a statement by a Sound Transit representative towards the end of the video that explains why they opened the line now instead of waiting for the extension into Seattle, which has been delayed. Having spent quite a bit of time on this line in the last week and a half or so, I don't entirely see the full purpose of this line until the bus restructuring in the area has been restructured. A few of the stations feel like they are just there and nothing else... So I guess we'll see but observed ridership during week 2 was questionable. Guess we'll see.
