An article on the 'Delta Spirit Lodge' (aka Silja Festival) appears in the Rio Tinto Alcan smelter rebuild & modernization project publication 'Blueprint'. See pdf copy here.

And another shot of the Silja Festival (aka DSL), this time a snowy one taken on 6 January 2015. Seen here at Rio Tinto Alcan's Terminal B in Kitimat. I expect her to remain here for another three months. © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr

The Silja Festival is sailing from Kitimat at 11:00 on Tuesday April 28 and heading back to Vancouver shipyards. She will sail via Johnstone Straits.

No problem! Paper work just came in this morning. There is no indication yet as to how long she will be at the shipyard. Rumour has it that she might sail to another static job rather than home to Estonia, and that will determine what is to be done at the yard.

Thanks for that account, Jim... so ends a rather interesting little episode in BC's maritime history. Would the Silja Festival be the largest vessel to ever serve in a stationary role here, for accommodation or otherwise? I suspect so.

The vessel is ESTIMATING First Narrows about 21:00-21:30 and approaching the berth at 22:00. Off Port McNeill at 08:30. I will not be able to update the times as I am not working this evening, but you could get them from various AIS sights. Most of the marine industry on the coast use SIITECH .

During Expo '86 in Vancouver, the Epirotiki Lines cruise ship 'Pegasus' was docked in New Westminster as hotel accommodation for the 6 months of the fair. I'm not I'm sure the 'Pegasus' was somewhat smaller than the 'Mona Lisa' but may have hosted more guests over 6 months of the fair. Joining the 'Pegasus' in New Westminster as a hotel ship was the venerable old "Prince George'.

Well the Silja Festival (aka Delta Spirit Lodge) has a new life in the Mediterranean, back working as a ferry in service for Corsica - Sardinia Ferries. She has been renamed Mega Andrea. Thanks for the posting. The new colour scheme isn't too hard on the eyes but does change her appearance a fair bit. Great to see her still gainfully employed.
