Would be easier to bring the Queen of Tsawwassen down and do extra sailings on Route 2, but it won't happen. She can make a little dent in traffic with her platforms. Won't happen though.

But Saturday nights are one of the slowest times for BC Ferries, so it makes the most sense. They will not sell out even the Sannich.

They canceled the last round trip of the night too, looks like the Vancouver can pick up the slack. Route 30 has weather delays too. Is it really that windy up there? It is just hot as hell in the Seattle area.

My guess is that they never did get her finished. They had to bring her back to service early to get the Bowen Queen on Route 9a so they will finish the HSQ in the fall.

The Cow wouldn't sail to Tsa. The crew was already on overtime for the entire roundtrip to Horseshoe Bay, that would just add more OT.

There has been a fire on one of the dock structures at Campbell River terminal. The Powell River Queen is holding at Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island. A 12-person water taxi is carrying foot passengers from Quathiaski Cove to the marina near the dock at Campbell River terminal. Further updates will follow.

When the SOBC goes out of service, they used the Tsawaassen based vessel to replace her. The Sannich's crew is based out of Victoria, so that is where she always ties up at night. And I can only assume that the Esquimalt is in for the Vancouver because the Vancouver is in for refit. The Vancouver carries the same amount of cars as the Esquimalt. The Esq only lists as carrying more cars because of her platforms which they don't use anymore.

I agree with forgiving the the import duty on the NorAd. It was the best option BC Ferries had at the time. I don't agree with forgiving the duties on the four new boats being built in Germany as BC Ferries had a choice in the matter.

After seeing that I looked at the new Northern Vessels cost and it was $133 million. So the new boat is $30 million more expensive than the Sonia. Value? You also have to figure in the insurance settlement from the Queen of the North which was 61 million. So BC Ferries basicly got a replacement for the Queen of the North for $42 million.

You have to have a name and registration on a vessel to sail. I am sure BC Ferries covered it up because they haven't given her a new name yet.

We've been over this. They can't split those sailings cause the ships would end up on the wrong terminal for the nightly tie-up.

I see what your saying now. BUT, they need the first sailing of the day on Saturdays, and the last sailing on Sundays because they are busy. So it still wouldn't work.

I don't think you got what I was trying to say. If you cut the last sailing on Saturday, the 10:45pm, and the first on Sunday, 5:15am, the Alberni would end up at TWA at 10:15pm and wouldn't go back to Duke Point. Then the next sailing wouldn't be until 7:45am from Twa to Duke Point on Sunday, meaning the Vancouver Island based crew of the Alberni would be stuck at Twa from 10:15pm to 7:45am, and wouldn't arrive back to Vancouver Island until 9:45am. It won't work. You have to have a complete round trip, which means the last two sailings on Saturday and the first two sailings on Sunday.

They are getting new ships. But Route 30's traffic doesn't justify another boat. You can look at the numbers from the annual report. They can't justify building a new boat for a few summer overloads. And I can't even begin to explain how bad an idea it would be to make a double decker truck boat. Splitting the 10:45pm/5:15am sailing wouldn't work cause the ships would end up in the wrong port. The Alberni's crew is based on Vancouver Island and wouldn't like being at Twa at the end of the night. And BCF already cuts the 5:15am and 7:45am sailings on the non-summer schedule on Sunday mornings only. So cutting a round trip on Saturday nights wouldn't be that bad. If you gotta to go Nanaimo on Saturday nights, take Route 2. It isn't that far up there.
