Looks like Flensburger has information up for the Costal Inspiration on its site, but in an odd way. Under "See our RoRo's grow" and at the end of "Yard No. 734 - BC Ferries" the period is a hyperlink that takes you to the info for that yard. Looks like cutting is well under way and assembly has begun on the first two modules. www.fsg-ship.de/

Their poorly contructed website will force most people to go to www.fsg-ship.de/ and then select "Ro-Ros Grow." and then hit the link you've identified. For such a world class ship builder they have sure dropped the ball on this website.

Sneaky little small hyperlink that is.....hiding as a small red dot, at the end of the "734" phrase !
That module diagram is interesting, and on the 1st ship, you can sure see the progress.

Actually, that is not true. First off, when you click on the tab schedule. it shows that the steel cut was made back on the day the Renissance had her first plate cut.

That's because it is the Renaissance, Both Yard 733 and Yard 734's schedules are on the same page of that schedule. Yard 733 is the Coastal Renaissance 734 is the Inspiration

So then when did they do the first steel cut eh? Might I mention I do not even see a video for it.

From what I think, they haven't started yet.

Coastal Inspiration's module plan shows that steel-cutting and a small amount of assembley has already begun.
I suspect there was no video or ceremony for the "1st steel cut", because this is the 2nd ship in the series, and all the hoopla was for the 1st ship.

If you look at No. 731 and No. 732, they have separate videos for each. It would not make sense why not to do the same?

The schedule page has not been updated at all so nothing there shows for the Inspiration. We are a ways into the schedule for 733 the Renaissance (keel laying is a ways down the chart). It still shows just the start of the cutting.
However you are correct when you click on the period at the end of the 734 on the Roro's Grow page you can see what they have cut and assembled into units already. The cutting and assembly would be done in one area of the shipyard and the final assembly or erection as they use, is done in the slipway. Since the Renaissance is finished being cut and much of the sections have been assembled ready to be moved into the slipway, there is capacity to work on the next ferry.
From what I know of web design the period at the end of 734 is a web designers error. He probably meant to include the whole of the line but only did the link on the last character. They seem to update the pages in batches rather than on a daily basis. Depending on what program they use the updating of the website can be a labourious task. Their customers have pages we don't see and would obviously have better information than we are seeing, such as detailed schedules that are updated regularly.

Someone has taken notice of the outdated schedule and misplaced link. The website now has an updated schedule complete with delivery dates, and the link to the Coastal Inspiration has been corrected.

The Jumbo Mark IIs are 460' long, and the Super Cs are going to be 160m, or 525ft long. So yes, that is much longer than the WSF boats.

Slight detour, here, and at the risk of flogging an already dead horse, but....
Take a look at the photo of the keel laying of the Coastal Inspiration, and tell me if it makes much sense to date a ship's age from that point.

Just FYI,
Two double-ended sister-ferries operating in the Baltic Sea, "Deutschland" and "Schleswig-Holstein" exceed Tacoma, Wenatchee and Puyallup in length. They are about ten years old. They measure LOA 142.0M (465+ft.) They are not so beamy 24.8M (81+ft.) Their GRT 15187

The scandinavian's don't seem to care about the looks of their ferries. They just want to fit more cars, and as many passenger's as possible. Two words for their ferries BIG, and UGLY!
