With July 1st upcoming, numerous UFA's available and the Canucks having deep pockets for the first time in years, I'm starting to wonder what will occur this year. Inevitably we will probably sign a has-been to a heavy long-term deal , but what do the hockey fans among us think about the summer? Personally I would like to see the Canucks trade the Sedin's for young talent, preferably Crosby.

I think the Sedin's should stay because they were basically the offense when the Canucks were in their slumps. By the way check the spelling of this thread.

Personally I feel the best players the Canucks Can get are... Pavol Demitra (There's a good chance...Maybe we'll reel in a Gaborik while we're at it, LOL) Marian Hossa (As long as he doesn't want more than 6 Million) and Ryan Malone (Might be a good player for the Sedins or something) Any of these Players would be a good acquisition. Gillis and Crew just has convince them to sign here.
As for this our UFAs this year, All of them can leave for all I care. Naslund can stay if he signs for 3 Million or less.

After the play-off performance Marion Hossa put in, there's no way the Pens will let him go. I cannot for the life of me understand all you guys out there that are so gung-ho on getting rid of the Sedin twins. Total up their numbers, then subtract them from the overall team numbers and then you see how much you not only lose, but the fact that you are not going to replace or improve on those numbers by adding one or two other top players who may or may not be a good fit here. My stance is that they should be looking to secure the best player to compliment the Sedins. On the Naslund issue: I agree, he comes back at a lot less money AND we re-assigne the "C" to someone else. The signing of Kyle Weldwood could only a part of a package that Gillis may bundle up and move off long before Weldwood ever wears a Canuck's jersey. But I'm open to other opinions:)

Kyle Wellwood was great his first season. This last season he was taken to task, sometimes publically by Maurice, for being out of shape. A spark was missing. Kyle seems like a really nice guy. I hope the injuries are all healed and he is able to get back to where he was his first year with the Leafs for the Canucks. He broke his leg playing soccer just after the season ended. Unless of course as Starsteward says he is one of the pieces in some bigger move.

I agree that Kyle Wellwood will be a good addition to the Canuck's roster. But Mike Gillis absolutely cannot afford to make the same mistake Dave Nonis did, by thinking one piece is going to solve the whole puzzle. I think a Jeff Carter or Ryan Malone would look great in a Vancouver Uniform as well. Possibly even a Pavol Demitra would fit in nicely.

Initial Reaction to it. WHAT!! Sure Sundin Would be great for the team. But for 10 Million!? I see some possible line combinations in the future. 1st Line...They're Getting one of these Guys I know it. Option A. Naslund-Sundin-Hossa Option B. Naslund-Sundin-Demitra Option C. Naslund-Hossa-Demitra Option D. Hossa-Sundin-Demitra 2nd Line...Fill In the Blank Sedin-Sedin- ? 3rd Line...I Swear that this will be the "West Coast Express, 2nd Generation" Burrows-Kesler-Pettinger 4th Line... Insert Leftover Players/Rookies Here Goalies Luongo Sanford (Or any other Back-Up) All these ingredients will help create a Potential Cup Contender

That is $10 million a year. Would make him the highest paid player in the league temporarily of course . Good player and he will be missed in Toronto - however - sheesh! I don't think someone in the twilight of their carreer can be worth that much ... or can they? I guess time will tell if he decides to keep playing and this is the offer he wants. Matts is well known for his ability to take his time making decisions and won't be rushed. Will be interesting to see what transpires and then what he plays like if he takes it.
