I'm curious to see what your opinion is on the new iPhone. As many of you may now it came out yesterday and there have been many complaints over fees for it. The charges were quite expensive and after many petitions Rogers lowered the rates for a short time. What I want to know is:
1. Do you think you should have to pay for data usage? 2. Do you think it is a good idea to stop using Rogers because of it? 3. Do you have the iPhone or are planning to get it or not and why.
I personally think that the fees are too steep but were done because Rogers has a monopoly on it so they will charge higher rates much like gas prices. As for quitting Rogers I don't think it is worth it because for every angry person who quits another will still get the iphone and Rogers still makes money off your cancellation fee. I don't have the iphone and don't plan to get one because I got the ipod touch instead. It does everything except being a phone and it only cost one charge to own it not $60 bucks a month and the company still owns it. I am interested to see what everyone else thinks.

I personally will never deal with Rogers. I also feel that Samsung and some of the other companies are working on better phones then the IPhone

HA! Lamest contracts ever, I really think Rogers dropped the ball even after they changed the packages. The iPhones themselves I also don't trust that much, I am on my third iPod the previous two breaking within a week of being out of warranty!

I already have AT&T as my carrier, so I could very easily update to the iPhone, since I believe AT&T is the only US carrier who has a service plan with the iPhone. And, I have an iMac as my home computer, so I am in the perfect position to get one. The prices have come down on the phones, at least through AT&T, but they would require me to upgrade to a more expensive service plan, which would probably negate that initial price advantage. Also, I'm not ready to dump that much money into a phone right now, and my current iPOD works just fine. Eventually, I will probably get one, but I think I may wait until Apple releases a model with more memory (I would love it if they come out with a 32gb model to match the iPOD Touch), and maybe the prices will come down even more in the future.

Personally I don't need all the features of an iPhone. All I really do with my 4 year old Samsung flip-phone is talk and text, and use it as my alarm

The iPhone is the greatest piece of tech to hit the market ever. Apple has beat everyone with this amazing device and it is unfortunate that Rogers screwed over the great iPhone.

Also, there is no box for already owning it. I have the old one and hacked it for use up here so I only pay $25 a month.
