Fantastic sun rise Mr. horn, I wish I got to spend as much time on ferries as you get to. Thanks. I had a dry-spell of no ferry riding for a few months, other than some minor routes. It was good to be on the water on a large ship again.

Sunrise bracketing sequence at Morant's Curve, on July 11, 2012. 5:30am, before the sun hits the peaks. 5:57am - sun hits the peaks, but not all of them 6:04am. Mt. Temple (2nd from right) finally gets it's top lit by the sun. 6:08am - the sun is moving down the slopes on the left-side. (in between these photos, a train went by. I'll post those photos later) 6:20am - mountains are lit, but valley is still dark, as are the rail tracks.

I thought you were on vacation man??? lol what are you doing up at that hour when your on vacations?? lol! haha, it took 35-minutes of driving to get from my Yoho cabin to Morant's Curve......so it was an early start to the day. - later, after I returned to the cabin, we did a mid-morning trip to walk around Emerald Lake. By noon, I was tired and ready for a nap. What's the point of being in the middle of beautiful morning scenery, if I'm asleep and miss it? The best lighting is always at sunrise and sunset.... For my 2-week trip, I think that I had 5 mornings when I did the early-morning photography, and 1 evening for a sunset/dusk shoot. - and those times have ended up being when I've taken my best or favourite photos.

A few closeups of the mountains of Morant's Curve at sunrise. - July 11, 2012. ------------------------ The creeping light progression. 15 minutes between these 2 shots. ---------------------- Looking eastward: - the focus is on the mountains being lit, not the dark track. ---------------------- The lovely group of mountains to the west: - from left to right, I think the 4 main mountains are Mt. Temple, Haddo Peak, Saddle Mountain, and Fairview Mountain. Saddle Mountain. --------------- By the way, the back side of Fairview Mountain also has a fair view, seen from a lake named for Louise. - evening sun, on July 11, 2012.

That is an awesome photo Mr. Horn! It looks extremely relaxing and the scenery is beautiful. All-around well done. Now for something a tad more dramatic - this weekend, I decided to put the D5000 to the test to see what she could do at night. This was the result. Carnival Inspiration by MileagePhoto, on Flickr The unfortunate blurred effect on the horizon and on the light of the distant boat comes from the vessel rocking back and forth. Unlike the 'Inspiration here in BC, she did not handle the larger waves very well.

I actually really like the rocking blur; it adds to the photo. You can tell that you're on a real-life, moving ship, not just some photographic set while the hulk is sitting in a dock.

Thats Mt Arowsmith on the left and Mt Cokely on the right :-) I'm not sure which photo you are commenting on. - if it's one of mine from August 25th, it won't be Arrowsmith & Cokely, because all of my shots were to the mainland Coast Mountains. ps: hope that you had a fun & busy Saturday at the park.
