There is a photo "The Elite BC in NJ" has been posting at the bottom of his messages in this Forum. I find two ships that brings me happy memories of ship watching in the 1970s. These mentioned ships are in the green box. The ships I'm mentioning are former Sea-Land container ships. They were called the SL7 - Class. They are 946 feet in length, more than 100 feet in beam, and traveled at speeds greater than 30 knots. The MV SEA-LAND COMMERCE and her sisters were really fun to see on Puget Sound each week. They were the next best thing to see behind huge aircraft carriers! Some neat information of these vessels, which are doing military services now, are at the links below. www.scalecraft.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1182www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_display.asp?cid=4700&tid=100&ct=4en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Sealift_Ship

There are several more of this class mothballed in the lagoon directly behind the Akers Philadelphia yard (Far left of photo). Unfortunately, though I see them everyday on my commute, it's difficult to get pictures because the only real vantage point is off the Girard Pt Bridge. So, unless one really wants to stand in the middle of I-95 to take photos (Frogger, eat your heart out ), it ain't happening!
