I'm thinking of doing a trip on the Queen of Richmond, probably next Wednesday. Does anyone else want to attend? Some logistics: - Lets all meet at the west-side terminal at 9:00am, in time for the 9:30am sailing. - Lets try to board from the main car deck, as I want a good look at how the pointed-bow impacts the car deck. - Remember to bring lots of coin for the slot-machines and the beer-machine. Let me know if there are other planning considerations for us to remember. I also want to photograph the areas where Neil had reported the missing-passenger-incident from that October night. If anyone has a spiritual-filter for their camera, please bring it along. Let me know if I've forgotten anything. These Q'Richmond trips are usually one of the best forum experiences that we do. See you there.

I'm looking forward to this! I sure hope we don't have a repeat of last year with Flugel and alcoholic drinks in the Dogwood Bar. That was pretty ugly...
My new camera came with a spiritual filter so I'll finally get to test that out ;D

I am going to fly out for this one. QofR is the only one of the original sisters I have never been on. I bet you however, the fog clears and the sailing is cancelled due to QofR's shyness. What is plan B.

Count me in, I believe this will be a CoastSaver sailing. I also have enough to get food from the original BC Ferries cafeteria.

Yoicks!! Tally-Ho!!
I guess I'll have to whip my deck crew into shape (not likely). And the Bosun gets priority on where to sleep for the trip. The best bunk is under the cover inside one of the lifeboats. I would have gone inside the funnel (it's warmer), but there is that one weird quartermaster, whose presence aboard the ship no one can explain, that is always hiding out inside the funnel.
Just a note, to maintain order... if anyone is caught drunk or drinking on bored, you will promptly go overboard and we'll keep the Alcoholic Dogwood Drinks safe for you.

Well, that'll be a quick trip home.
I'm planning on taking the day off work for this. It's not often I get to ride the 'Richmond as a passenger... usually I'm stuck down below. I hope the fog bank sticks around so she doesn't get shy, but I'm sure the Spirit of Spuzzum will fill in if necessary.

Speaking of the mystical Queen of Richmond, I caught a picture of this lovely ship a few years ago. The quality's not great, as she was still somewhat enveloped in her usual fog bank, but she briefly emerged, just a little bit, which allowed me to capture this truly rare photograph. I'd like to tell you where I was when I took this pic, but I think that might be in breach of some confidentiality agreement, or something to that effect.

Well, confidentially speaking, that ferry's whistles sound the same as the Big Wally's (the one you have below that classic capture).

Mr. Mac Write had asked about a photo of the QoR's builder's plaque. I told him that I had a photo of it, which I thought was stored in a box. Then I remembered that I had given the photo to a friend who is a retired member of the Queen of Richmond's crew. I knew I still had the negatives from that photograph. I found the negatives, and put them aside, so I could get them developed. A couple hours later, when I was ready to go to the photo finisher, I found that my cat had urinated on my negatives, rendering them useless. Anyways, what I'm getting at is that I would love to come along this trip so I could take some photos of the plaque for Mac and everyone else. Count me in, dudes!

Mark me down as being there. I will bring my brother Mr. DOT with me.
I have travelled on real Spirits, and travelled spiritually on all the real 'forum members' trips. This will be a first - travelling in spirit on a spiritual outing aboard a spiritual Spaulding. The eighth sister lives!.

I'll be aboard as the Captain that day anyways. So I know you guys will be aboard that day, and you're all welcome to come up and join me in the bridge. I hope you all like hearing the horn, since it will be sounding for any reason, including altering course to port and starboard. That 10 note Airchime horn on the funnel never gets old to me. As a rule of thumb, no sex in the cafeteria though.

Oh, geez... I'll see if I can get the day off from work to make the trip. After all, it's the only one I ever seem to show up on and I hate to break the annual tradition.

Ok this is a one time only offer. In honor of the QofR, I have arranged to pay for either a free Triple O or cinnamon bun for whoever makes the trip. Since Flug still seems to be defrocked maybe Jordan will deem to cover the cinni ceremony (not sinny however appropriate that will be).*
*OAC, while supplies last, subject to change without notice, GST/PST not included, special handling and delivery fee of $5 not included and payable by the recipient in cash or Queen of Richmond Legal Tender. Not transferable to any other ship except for the Queen of Sidney. And only available if the lazy cafeteria workers feel like cooking that particular moment.
Yes I am on in a long conference call this morning (now 2 hours and counting) that is blah blah and yadda yadda and desperate for anything to keep me awake while I pretend to listen.

What makes you think we actually serve that crazy Triple-O's food on the Richmond? Anyone wanting to bring a BC Burger will have to do carry on, thank you very much. At the very least, the Richmond still retains the beloved Horseshoe Cafeteria, where the real BC Ferries menu is still served. Everyone also has to eat a mandatory Sunshine Breakfast. At the best, we also still have the buffet in the upper aft lounge. (If we have an upper aft lounge after the shipwrights get done with the ship once again.) For this reason, Dane is only allowed to eat in the crews' mess because otherwise we don't even break even on the buffet operations. As for the Cinni-bun ritual, we will be sure to order in a shipment of fresh buns from a real bakery, so the ceremony can be performed without threatening the continued health of the participants.

What about the old fries with gravy? Do they still serve that on the QOR ? I hope so!

Well, I did hear they managed to find the vice-grips and get the drain plug out of that purple 1957 DeSoto Fireflite that someone forgot to take with them after the last trip, so the squid fryer is topped up.
