I am experimenting with Flickr for the first time and figured I would use the current snowstorm as an excuse. My car has just been cleared on the left and Dad's is left uncleared. This is about halfway through the storm. They are predicting 20 to 30cm now. Photos located hereI hope this isn't considered the no no memory stealing link *Moderator Edit - Editied to fix broken link...

Actually, it's your photo-sharing account, so I think it's OK;) And a link is fine in every case, just not pasting an image on here from another site.

High winds play havoc with traffic, ferry runs and power Canadian Press and CTV News
January 15, 2008
VANCOUVER -- Eighty-kilometre-an-hour winds yesterday caused the closing of a number of streets, the cancellation of ferry trips and left thousands without power in the Lower Mainland, with Vancouver, Delta and the Sunshine Coast the hardest hit.
A two-block section of a busy downtown Vancouver street was closed yesterday because of the danger of glass falling from an office tower, causing traffic chaos during the afternoon rush hour and well into the evening.
Police say the Terasen Gas building has been damaged because of the wind storm, while a 1.2-metre-square piece of plate glass dangled precariously at the 20th floor, about three-quarters of the way up the building.
The winds were preventing workers from fixing the problem, so the 1100 block of West Georgia -- a main east-west artery in the city -- was closed to car and pedestrian traffic. Office workers in the area were told not to leave the building until notified.
Debris from a nearby construction site was also being whipped around by heavy winds. Police say sheets of plywood from the Shangri-la building, which when finished will be Vancouver's tallest tower, were sent flying and several cars were hit by material.
B.C. Ferries cancelled sailings between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands, Texada Island and Powell River, and sailings between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay and between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay were delayed by half an hour.
Stanley Park was also closed because of the danger of falling trees and branches. Power outages from Oak Street to Arbutus Street also left about 11,000 customers in the dark.

I found this video on youtube just now. It's footage from one of the last windstorms, on February 5th. It's nearly 10 minutes long, of showing the Queen of Esquimalt to get turned into the berth. She would have been going against the wind for the entire crossing, so what a trip that probably would have been! It looks like the person filming the video, was standing on the Queen of Nanaimo in Berth 2, and looking over the breakwater towards berth 3.
