No joke, CBC News was saying that Air Farce will only do 9 more live episodes and a New Years special before saying goodbye to the show. Why not pass it down to another generation like SNL? In fact, Air Farce has been better than SNL!

At the risk of sounding like an old codger, I must say SNL used to be funny... mind you, that blissful period in the show's history ended several years before you were born... ;D

That's too bad they're canceling it. I think it is probably the most ingenious Canadian comedy show. Do you know why they are canceling it?

Sounds like Fergeuson was waiting for this and if they were willing to allow it to go he'd say goodbye. So they must be getting tired. They should get someone to save it!

Canadians know a good run when they see it and most are happy to concede defeat if given the privilege of such a rare feat in our country's CRTC-mandated television history, atleast as goes the feeling of so many other crew members of The Beachcombers as my dad tells me. In the case of most quality and longrunning Canadian funded television programs, the iconic Air Farce has received the royal treatmeant, I can say without hyperbole. Heck, according to my dad, they were even afforded such luxuries as having a principle cast member flown-in from the UK for every show he did for a few years atleast towards the end of his career, even back when they were anything but the wittiest CBC comedy show in the 90s, and, besides maybe the proliphic '22 Minutes (who's back-shows can be seen to this day on the Comedy Network as far back as 1993), that's saying a lot for the time. To clarify, I'm speaking of the late John Morgan (1930-2004). Check out their short biography at www.Wikipedia.org here: www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Canadian_Air_Farce

Awwww, There goes another good show down the tubes. Then again, better it end while it's still mostly good than when the quality of episodes goes down like alot of the overpopular continuously running shows today. Air Farce will be missed.

Time to up my efforts to attend another taping or the live show. The shows are all booked just after they go on offer. The demand for tickets is huge. The only other way to get in is to show up the day of the show and try to get any left over tickets from people who haven't showed up. Those tickets tend to be in the worst seats mind you because they fill from the middle out so that any empty seats wouldn't be seen on TV.
I also enjoyed way back when the show was live on radio and taped for TV when they toured the country. Rumour has it Luba Goy wasn't in favour of stopping so maybe she would be part of a troup that toured and either was aired on radio like Vinyl Cafe or taped for TV.
The two times I have been to the tapings were both great fun. Since they weren't live then there was a lot of between scenes antics that were as funny or more funny than the show itself. Luba Goy messing around to get into character to do Valerie Pringle was the best. She would keep repeating perky perky perky to anyone who came anywhere near her. The late John Morgan could only be described as a real ham to the audience. He mercilessly tormented a woman in the front row in his Mike from Canmore character beofre his scene was ready to tape. I honestly thought there was going to be an accident she was in such histerics. John Morgan also did a sketch about lose truck tires as there had seemed to be a rash of them about that time. One or two live tires were actually thrown and it took quite a few shots to get it right. His comments and one liners about the attempts were great. He was in front of a blue screen where the freeway background was added later.

Hey, this 'kid' remembers when the RC Air Farce was a radio show. In those days it was consistently funny. Then they put it on TV and it has generally been going downhill ever since. They lost two members - first Dave Broadfood, and later John Morgan (who has since passed away). These guys were key members of the radio show and their replacements have just not been all that funny. The surviving comedies on CBC TV today (22 Minutes & Rick Mercer) are, IMHO, better than Air Farce. As they say, all good things must come to an end...

Strange but I liked Dave Broadfoot on the radio but didn't like him on the TV Show. Maybe it was just he was doing spots and not as a regular. Some of the newbies are ok but it seems you don't really get to know them as much because they can't develop their characters as much. I think some of the regularity of characters is helpful. Harper isn't nearly as colourful as Chretien to portray. Same with Dion. We have a bunch of boring politicians it seems right now. Even Ralph Klein is gone. Maybe Mel Call out the Army Lastman or Vanderdandruff will run for office again. Sigh.

[offtopic] 22 Minutes, IMHO, was actually improved by Rick Mercer's departure. To me he always equated being intense and loud with funny. Colin Mochrie is way funnier. [/offtopic]
