That is a lot of work... They will be painting the vessel ID number on the top of the wheelhouse. WSF wants them to install two waffle bakers in the galley ;D
If all goes as listed, it will be May of 07 when she comes back

Hoo boy! Waffles!
Seriously, though... May is optimistic, looking at that baby.
And you'll pardon my skepticism about further modifications to the vessel. We haven't hardly got the last lot working right yet.

I've heard from several people who've been working on the boat that October of this year is being optomistic...

Why is it taking a year to get the Elwha fixed?

Why is it taking a year to get the Elwha fixed? They had to rebid the propulsion work. The first company that had signed on to do it backed out. And, as is typical of "deferred maintenance" they've found a whole lot more wrong with her than they initially thought. Like the other drive motor being in as bad of shape as the one that burned out.

I was wondering why the original projections for February changed so much...Hopefully, she will be able to come back for the summer.

Does anyone want to open a book on this? I'd think 5-2 against would be about appropriate starting odds...

The Elwha is sitting at Todd Shipyards this morning, right next to the Cathlamet's drydock.

The ELWHA came into P52 around 5:00 last night...no idea where she came from or where she went to.

Yes I noticed that she went out of Eagle Harbor on Saturday and returned last night around 7pm. She is currently tied up at berth one at the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal. I am not sure why they didn't take her back over to the shipyard. She also has plastic covering her interior passenger areas. Anyone know why they are doing this?

They're establishing a baseline for her so they know what to go by once the new propulsion units are in. And she's already late for going in for that I hear.

Wow! I thought they had that all done if she could run under her own power. So they have still have to put all new propulsion units in her? I wonder when her estimated time for being back in service is now?

I wonder when her estimated time for being back in service is now? Yep, she still needs all that done. Supposedly she's going to be back for summer schedule, which, for some reason is starting on June 23rd this year. Those of us who know and love the old Elwha aren't taking bets she'll be back by then.

The Elwha has been doing sea trials and is due for a Coast Guard Inspection soon. All under her own power.
Not sure if or when she returns to service.

She is actually out playing right now...I got a peek in the cabin, everything is covered in plastic. I was actually very surprised to see her under her own power.

Elwha is soon to be heading to a shipyard for maintenance. Expected back by late May. Hopefully in time to go North for the Summer Schedule.
Bremerton gets the rare treat of having the Spokane starting this Sunday. Not sure if she has ever been on the run for any length of time before this.

I agree that she probably wouldnt be back in time. She headed out of Eagle Harbor slowly this morning about 8:45am. From there she headed South.

She was out and about for sea trials yesterday, and I think she's up in Everett now.

The target date remains 5/25 for the Elwha to come out of Everett. Return to service date? Summer schedule would sure be nice for everyone concerned...

She was out and about for sea trials yesterday, and I think she's up in Everett now. And there she is: Given how long it usually takes to do the kind of work they're doing on the Elwha, history is against her. We're talking something like 77 days they think she'll be out of the yard. That would have to be some kind of record. If she makes it back by fall I'd be amazed.

Looks like the Elwha is no longer up in Everett. When did they move her and does anyone know where she might be?
