While I originally had planned to have a BC Ferry that has not had the opportunity to grace the header, I have decided to try something new as BC Ferries' 50th anniversary is on June 15th. June will consist of five individual flagships displayed at specific times during the month.- June 1st - 6th:
Photos taken from 1960 to 1969 and/or Queen of Sidney.*
*Queen of Sidney in-service photos only.
- June 7th - 12th:
Photos taken from 1970 to 1979.*
*If no submissions by Friday, May 14th - Queen of Tsawwassen (in-service photos only).
- June 13th - 18th:
Photos taken from 1980 to 1989.*
*If no submissions by Friday, May 14th - Queen of Prince Rupert (in-service photos only).
- June 19th - 24th:
Photos taken from 1990 to 1999.
- June 25th - 30th:
Photos taken from 2000 to today.
Any BC Ferry past or present is acceptable. Please specify the year the photo was taken when submitting to this thread. There is no limits to the number of submissions for any of the years pre-1999. There is no limits to the number of submissions for any of the years pre-1999. Ooh, Scott. "There IS no limits"... How 'Beverly Hillbillies' of you... I have a few photos in mind. Those photos my mom took of the QPR... can I submit a few of those for the '90s section? I know they aren't MY photos, but she gave me specific permission about 2 minutes ago, as long as you guys agree.

Just a reminder that if we do not receive any entries by the end of today for the 60's and 80's, they will switch to the Queen of Sidney and Queen of Prince Rupert, respectively.
If you have entires that you will submit, but cannot do it by tonight, let me know via PM...

Thanks to all who have submitted thus far. I have decided to combine the first vote. So, if you have any photos taken in the 60's or any of the 'Sidney in-service, they are both allowed into that vote.

I have two photos to submit for the 1960's. The first thing I should point out is that both photos were actually taken during the 1970's, but represent the fleet as it was in the 1960's. Technically these don't meet the rules. I have nevertheless submitted them for the moderators to consider re 'bending' the rules. One pic is of the Tsawwassen which is an original, and, I believe, every bit as historic as the Sidney, perhaps more so in that it served almost all the way through BCF's five decades to date. The other is an historic shot taken at Deas Dock of character vessels now all gone but one...

Because they both represent ships as they were in the 60's, both are acceptable to entry into that vote. Thanks, Jim!

What is the red on the side of the Queen of Tsawwassen? It looks like Asian writing, maybe Chinese?

I have two more photos to submit, this time to represent the 1970's. Both photos represent the biggest innovation of the 1970's - the introduction of fast & efficient double enders - the C class. The first photo, taken in April 1977, shows an almost brand new Queen of Coquitlam @ Horseshoe Bay. The second photo is from the camera of Mr. DOT (my brother) and shows the Queen of Alberni, as built, at Swartz Bay. This dates from about 1979. A stretched but not yet lifted Queen of Saanich is also visible.

Here are two more photos from the camera of Mr. DOT. These are to celebrate two of the major events of the 1980's. The first photo, taken in the early 1980's, shows a newly lifted V-class, the Queen of Vancouver in Active Pass, just off of Georgina Point Light. The second photo has previously served as the 'header of the month'. Again, it is situated at Deas Dock and shows four ferries being repainted from the Dogwood pastel blue to the Expo livery. Expo 86 logos are also appearing on the funnels to mark the Vancouver 1986 World's Fair.

Here are two more photos submissions, this time for the 1990's. The first photo, taken in 1993 or 94, shows a near new Spirit of British Columbia. Note the Victoria Commonwealth Games logo on the side. The Spirit class vessels are, I think without doubt, the most notable development for BC Ferries during the 90's. The second photo shows a near new Skeena Queen. This is submitted to mark the arrival in the 90's of a few new intermediate vessels (i.e. the Capilano & Cumberland twins, and the Skeena). DOT photo ©

Here are my final submissions, this time for the current decade. Both photos acknowledge the new builds that have joined the fleet over the past few years The first photo, taken this April, is of the Coastal Inspiration as it glides into its berth at Duke Point. The second photo, also taken in April, shows a near new Northern Expedition, at its berth in Prince Rupert. DOT photo ©
