Apparently, the sovi will be going in for a refit in october/november for it's giftshop... I talked to one of the retailers about a month ago, and they're going to expand the giftshop and move the snackbar...can't wait to see what that's going to look like

The Klitsa is currently at Allied Shipyards for refit.
...at least she will be all spiffy when she takes over Route 12 service this spring. ;D

Can anyone please estimate for me when the Queen of Oak Bay will be back in operation on Rt.2. I've sailed onboard her many times over the past winter, and I kind of miss her.

Can anyone please estimate for me when the Queen of Oak Bay will be back in operation on Rt.2. I've sailed onboard her many times over the past winter, and I kind of miss her. As you may know the Oak Bay is serving on route 3 for the next week...I rode on her today. The crew said the Surrey is having some work done on the fire suppression system that had to be completed by the end of this month and it couldn't be done while the ship was in service. The Surrey then has her annual refit after Easter. The last time I checked RBI, the Oak Bay was showing up on route 2 starting Tuesday, Mar. 29th. EDIT: I just checked RBI and the Oak Bay is showing up on route 2 Mar. 29-31 then is gone again until April 16th as stated by Mirlees. I wonder what's up with that?

April 12th, 13:45 The Howe Sound Queen will depart Vesuvius Bay for Allied Shipyards in North Vancouver. I will be aboard for the voyage across. I'll do my best for photos, but no guarantees. Update: This has already been delayed 24 hours to April 13th, 14:00

Update: This has already been delayed 24 hours to April 13th, 14:00 Another update for the ship trackers: Howe Sound Queen will make an overnight voyage to Allied shipyard tomorrow night (April 12/13). She will leave Vesuvius shortly after finishing her runs at 21:30 April 12th. The docks at either end of the route need to be readjusted for the Bowen Queen overnight as well. It will be a very slow ride to North Vancouver, as the shipyard isn't expecting the ship until 7:00am April 13th. Once the ship is secure, the crew will fly back to Salt Spring via Float Plane www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=393291

The Coastal Inspiration is currently at drydock in North Vancouver with the North Island Princess docked alongside.
The Howe Sound Queen, as expected, is now at Allied Shipyards as well. I believe the Klitsa is still in the drydock at Allied too.

Looks like the Coastal Celebration is out of service for a week or two. Coastal Rennie is taking over today on route 1 for the Celebration. May 2nd according to the travel centre the Coastal Rennie will be taking over for the SOBC for a few weeks. Now comes the confusion as to why there is no Buffet, it's the Rennie not the Celebration, lol!

FYI the Queen of Surrey is in Esquimalt now at the Drydock. I just happened to see a ferry in there from the Esquimalt Lagoon then later I saw a Funnel that looked a C class.

With NIP and HSQ both due back from their refits by early-June, it appears that refit season is almost over.
As far as I can tell, once Bowen Queen settles into Route-9A in late June or early July, the ferry fleet will be fully utilized except for 2 surplus vessels: - Nimpkish - Tachek
I wonder if Tachek will be starting a life-extension refit at Deas & Point Hope soon? ie. this summer?
And I wonder whether Nimpkish's days of service are over for good ? - other than doing the Bella Bella / mid-coast connections when NorAd is the off-season ship (which will only be when NorEx is in the shop), you'd think that Nimpkish won't see any action on any routes.

Is there not a need for the Nimpkish as a connector from Bella Bella other Central Coast Communities when the Discovery Coast Passage is not operating.

The Tachek and Tenaka also get a big refit this summer/fall. I forget who comes first. Powell River Queen will also be going for the same refit the Mayne Queen just did - interior Coastalization.
The Dogwood carpets are almost a thing of the past for BC Ferries

Tenaka is probably the only vessel in the fleet where it's preferred that she take her refit during the busy summer season. - after all, the replacement ship has more capacity, even if the restrooms are closed in port.

Further to Ferryman's posts elsewhere concerning work done on the Howe Sound Queen, this from the May issue of Western Mariner:
---------------------------------------------- BC Ferries MV Howe Sound Queen received refitting including sending of its MTU 2000 mains (with over 36,000 hours on their clocks, a testimony to good maintenance) to Cullen Detroit Diesel for rebuilds ----------------------------------------------
