Yesterday I learned that my mother had died. This has torn a big hole inside me, as I have never had a tighter bond to anyone else. I'm not going to be able to act like myself for at least the next week... I need all the support I can get.

:'(yes, there is alot of sadness out there, what with your mom, and on the large scale, the people of Japan, and my prayers, and thoughts go out to so many hurting people, on this planet! makes me realize how trivial things like ships liveries and so many other things, that don't matter in the big picture. :'(mrdot.

I'm sure I will get through this low period in my life. Besides, I don't think my mom would want me to be sad for too long--she would want me to continue living my life the way I always have.
We will have an event in the near future commemorating and celebrating her life. We believe we will be cremating her body, and hopefully I will get some of her ashes, so she will always be with me for the rest of my life.

My condolences on your loss. I would recommend not setting timeframes in your mind, but just go through the grieving process as you need to. Talk, talk and more talk will help. It seems a platitude now but each day it will get a tiny bit easier.

...I need all the support I can get. You've got it. I almost lost my mother late last year. It certainly is a difficult and trying event even without the loss. I cannot imagine what you're actually going through at the moment, sir. My best wishes are with you and your family.

Dave,
You can be assured that I, along with many others, are thinking of you in this difficult time.
Your mother has no doubt found peace, and hopefully you and all those close to her, will also find peace.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

As someone who has lost both their parents, I fully understand how empty and weird you must be feeling. I can tell you that while the grief never totally goes away, I am able to celebrate my folks' lives on a daily basis. Treasure the great memories you have of your mother, and she'll be with you for the rest of your life.
