Most of us, I'm sure, know about the "British Columbia" magazine that was originally called the "Beautiful British Columbia" magazine. They come out 4 times per year and are always full of spectacular photographs and interesting stories about our province. I've been a subscriber for quite a long time, but have not really had the time or space to keep and collect them. However, over the years, I have pulled out stories of different ferries and photos of ferries and advertisements for the ferries as a part of my small collection of historical ferry "stuff".
I was wondering if together we could compile a list of specific articles or magazine issues where there are significant ferry photos/stories/advertisements. Every now and then when I go to a second hand store, there are usually lots of these magazines sitting around, and if we knew which issues to look out for, it would make them easier to find. Also, some back issues are still available on the British Columbia Magazine website
And, for example, if you wanted to professionally preserve a full page BC Ferry ad and sell it on eBay, you might be able to make 15 bucks: cgi.ebay.com/1977-British-Columbia-Ferry-Haidas-Inside-Passage-Ad-/380350124763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588ea252db
...however I'm not sure if this item will sell for that much:)
Here's a start:
"Highway on the Sea" - a full magazine, special publication by Beautiful British Columbia magazine. I think it was published around 1980, when the Queen of the North started her career on the Inside Passage run. The magazine is more an article about the coast of British Columbia with an article running from front to back by Bryan McGill describing his ferry trips and destinations. There are quite a few ferry photos amid the scenic pics and a map on the last page of all the BC Ferry routes.
1981 - Winter - An article on the Lady Rose.
1966 - Spring - Has an article named "Highway on the Sea" and the cover page is of an under-construction Queen of Prince Rupert.
1985 - Summer - A nice article on the Princess Marguerite II.
