She's been out since 10pm last night, 21 hours so far. They must have 2 crews if they're doing this much at once.

Also I inspected two images of the SOBC and it definitely looks like she has 3 new whistle trumpets, along with her dull fog horn! I can't wait to have her back in BC and go on a voyage!

On one of the other threads, a member pointed out that the Spirit of British Columbia is just ducking out of the weather. It's been 2 days that the vessel is anchored in the lee of the Cotentin Peninsula. Looking at the weather in the immediate area it does not seem bad. However if one goes to a weather and wave site such as this one: www.surfline.com/surfdata/chart_viewer/?chart=natlwave&id=2950 You will find there's a chain of storms transiting across the Atlantic and swinging down just to the west of Europe then towards the Azores. Non of these look pretty, many have wave heights in the 5 to 8 metre range. To me a non meteorologist, it would appear the crew might be sitting behind that peninsula in the Lee for quite a long time.

Well, holding a Canadian and British passport (but thinking of going Irish (can't go Scottish) with brexit), I hold no excitement here.

Checking the current position of the Spirit of B.C. I see she's at anchor again. So after making a quick run from France she's now seeking protection from the latest storm. The ferry is anchored on the lee side of islands near the port city of Vigo Spain. Looking at the wave height site it appears she may be there for 2 to 3 days.

My thanks to 'tak22''s Pat Bay webcam site where he has been following the 'Spirit of B.C.''s voyage back to Canada. It would appear that the delivery crew has been dodging some 'dodgy' weather this past week but have managed to slog through and have arrived at Tenerife as of this morning. No indication of how long this pit-stop might be, however it will be fun to see our beloved 'Spook-B.C.' when she arrives at the Panama Canal and we can perhaps get a close-up look at her new/added gadgets. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to an arrival date/time at Victoria?

The SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA moved over to the other side of this port and must be taking in stores this morning (their time) for her trans-Atlantic voyage back to the continent of North America.

Just caught the SOBC departing Tenerife. Departure was about 1445PDT this afternoon. She's spotted within the blue oval.
We thank Skyline Webcams for letting us see this ship in Tenerife.

Thanks Starsteward for liking my ship tracking! Spirit of BC is now crossing the Atlantic so I won't have any updates until she appears on AIS again around May 1st. Oops! basic math error. April 21st. Anyone have a Sat AIS feed they'd like to share?

It appears that she can be tracked using marinetraffic.com

It appears that she can be tracked using marinetraffic.com Yes, she can.
When close to shore, she can be identified with her name.
When out on the ocean, she'll most likely be identified as "Passenger Vessel Position received via Satellite".
Her current course will likely be the same as she crosses the Atlantic. It will take awhile for her do this.
I'll post a mid-Atlantic report when her blip reaches the middle of the "Big Pond" (if visible on the MT site).

I use Marine Traffic as a primary free data feed, Vessel Finder as a secondary. Neither of these to my knowledge provide offshore data unless you subscribe to Satellite AIS. Spirit BC did a fake on me by doing a Southerly jog before heading West. If someone knows of a free SAT AIS data feed I'd appreciate the info.
My guess for a Victoria arrival is May 31st. Oops! basic math error. May 20th.

The Fake was a more southerly initial course to avoid the influence of several large storms in the North Atlantic and take advantage of prevailing currents. Last weather report from SOBC on April 15 noon local time, had them encountering 3 m seas with 15 to 20 knot winds on the starboard quarter. Speed made good 18.5 Knots. ETA Cristobal Panama, noon April 23.
