Some Oak Bays from the start and end of the Extravaganza: Your standard 'down the deck' shot... Take a look at the routes she's certified to sail on... Prince Rupert to Skidegate? Port Hardy to Prince Rupert? That would be an experience... Something new to try in the Cafeteria. Two stairwell signs we don't see much of:

Queens of Oak Bay and Alberni, seen on Easter afternoon 2012, from atop Sugarloaf Mountain. Evidently only one vessel is allowed to be near the entrance of the bay at a time, and so Alberni slowed and waited outside for 10 minutes or so while a slightly-late Oak Bay departed the bay. - another reason why Duke Point is needed. Alberni is wasting time while Oakie leaves the bay Alberni heading in.

Queen of Oak Bay, seen from Sugarloaf Mountain on Easter 2012: Entering the bay Engaging the bow-prop to slow down, on arrival at the berth. Brechin Point and Newcastle Island in the background. - Island Tug & Barge does a regular fuel-barge route to the bulk tanks at Brechin Point. My favourite ferry-photograph backdrop. Queen of Oak Bay on a hazy morning on Route-2, seen from the Coastal Renaissance. - July 8, 2012. ps: the protrusion above the aft sundeck is just photo noise or sun reflection from the glass. It is shown at the same spot above the sundeck, on all my photos in that set.

My father picked this up for me a couple days back... The drawing, of course, is done by our very own Mr. Thorne! ;D Am I correct in assuming that these were produced exclusively for the Oak Bay's inaugural sailing on June 13, 1981?

:)yes, indeed, I produced that work for the innaugral voyage out of Swartz Bay, and sat with Alex Fraiser and other guests on the trip around Oak Bay waterfront. Those were my dogwood years, long before so-called pvte. mgmt. improvements! mrdot.
