To continue the trip through the 60's..... I feel dizzy now. Did the sixties do that to everyone?

Great! I am glad someone was able to identify this vessel. Memory is a tad bit fuzzy after 40 years.

To continue the trip through the 60's..... Yep, definitely the Richmond, you can clearly see her telltale 'swish' markings ;D

Now those are rare! Photos of the Queen of Richmond as originally built. I'm guessing this is just before she went in to have her bow modified...

The Queen of Richmond's Page This here thread is to be a compilation of QoRichmond photos, no matter how foggy they be, and discussion on her whereabouts, as well as well as what she looks like.

Hmm, so that's why I saw here heading under the Port Mann Bridge.

Saw the Queen of Richmond from the Alberni on July 6th. Turns out that BCF had her working supplementary service on Route 30. Darn camera, focused on the lifering instead though...

Hmmm...I think you may be confused...that looks more like the Spirit of Haida Gwaii, the mysterious lego ship that sometimes roams the coast. The confusion is understandable, though, both ships have a fuzzy cloak generator on-board to seed confusion among witnesses to their presence.

This may be a little off-topic, but why has there never been a "Queen of Richmond" which houses Deas Dock? Yet there is a Queen of Chilliwack to which this day, the closest it will ever get to ferry service is Queen of Sidney rusting away on the Fraser River. Oh, there is a Queen of Richmond. BCF keeps her in storage up in the inlets of the North Coast when she's not in use. She runs as a charter vessel, and BCF took down her listing from the fleet profiles online a few years ago due to questions from the public as to why the ship never sees revenue service. We book the QoR every April for a day trip around the local waters. Attached is a screenshot from the fleet profile of the Queen of Kelsey Bay, another BCF ship that is no longer on the fleet page on the website for the same reasons as the Richmond. I think they're rafted alongside each other up Knight Inlet right now... someone correct me if I'm wrong. The routes shown on the fleet profile are from the 2004/2005 season when BCF had her doing some experimental routes to see if they garnered enough interest to make them permanent. Apparently passenger numbers were insufficient to continue this service. Attachments:

BC Ferries didn't want to have any dogwood on their website, so they photoshopped the slugs onto her profile. Her and the the Queen of Richmond are the only two BC Ferries left in the Expo scheme.

I have a random question about the Queen of Kelsey Bay. Why doesn't BC Ferries re-print the Queen of Kelsey Bay in the new livery?

Hey. does anyone have photos of the Queen of Kelsey Bay. Yep, there is a picture near the top of this page. They photoshopped on the new livery though. They didn't repaint her because BCF wants to have a piece of history left in their fleet, and the pastel livery is pretty much just that these days.

Why don't they put her on the fleet page? Too many people asking why she isn't on a regularly scheduled route. Truth is, it costs too much to operate her. If she isn't listed on the website, she's out of site, out of mind for the general public. Pun not intended... out of *sight*, out of mind... ;D

Why don't they put her on the fleet page? I can see her on the fleet-page on my computer. Are you using Internet Explorer, because that usually blocks it. Firefox is the way to see the Kelsey Bay.

Let me help you out by saying that if you really want to understand a ship like the "Queen of Kelsey Bay", you need to understand the concept of " The Legendary Parody". If you were going to create a fictional historical BC Ferry, just for fun, what would you name it? - and what type of ferry class would it be?
