Under what circumstances would a West Coast Express be on the tracks leaving the port underneath the Powell Street overpass during the PM rush? Thats where I spotted it today (stopped) as I traveled across the overpass. Don't the WCE trains normally travel on the tracks hugging the coast as far as Port Moody?

What you probably saw was a WCE train returning from a day of maintenance at the VIA facility near Pac Central. Very regularly WCE equipment is moved to that facility between the AM and PM runs to undergo regular maintenance. Not often spotted, though.

Wow, I cannot believe that they have been around for 25 years already! I hope they restore full service this year and seventh locomotive may lead sixth train for the route.

West Coast Express' new locomotive, 907, is seen on a Vancouver-bound intermodal train in New Westminster on May 27, 2023. It was formerly GO Transit 533, and was rebuilt by Progress Rail for WCE.
