A page dedicated on all the C Class ferry since there are separate pages on each one already.
By starting out, I have been doing some research on the 2 different (1976 and 1981) C Class ferries on when the visors were removed, so far it's either 1977 or 1978 that they were removed on the Coquitlam and Cowichan. Found proof in two different pictures of the Coquitlam. One picture dated 1977 had the visors but the next picture dated in 1978 there's no visors. My theory is that BC Ferries tried it for a year till they decided it was not going to work and removed them in late of 1977 or they were removed in 1978. As for the Oak Bay and Surrey the closes I ever got when the visors were removed were between 1998 and 2000. Don't know if I'm wrong but at least a close guess I hope.
The second question is when the Coquitlam and Cowichan had their navigation wings underneath were filled in?
As for the Alberni no changes except the one in 1984 but there can be other information that is missing that can be explained in the future.
So that is pretty much it. If anyone has a question on the Class can be added and if anyone knows can answer.

I Have photos of both the Cow & the Coq taken on the same day (15 July 1978). At that point the Coq had lost her upper car deck arches, but the Cow still appears to be retaining them. I would guess that the Coq lost hers during her 1977-8 refit & that the Cow lost hers during the following year's refit.
The filling in of the part under the bridge wings did not happen until after 1994, as photos that I have from 1993 & 94 still show the openings to be there.
I also have 1993 photos of the 1981 C class vessels that show the upper car deck wings were still in place. Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of photos of these vessels in the years between 1993 & the dawn of the digital age.
Hope that helps....

As for the wings on the 1981 ferries on the upper car deck, it's not a problem.
Here's a picture I found of Oak Bay in 1998 www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1259545
And here is one without the upper car deck wings www.milebymile.com/photos/photo_1767.jpg
So between the first and second pictures there's a year that the removal happened. Quick finds but great shots.
