When will phrase two Island Class vessels undergo unwarranted work? What do you mean by unwarranted work? I guess I'm unsure as to what you're asking here.

I think they should have accelerate the c class replacement project first, keeping The Mayne Queen as a back up. We need more Major ships...., like Yesterday.

Its painfully obvious from this summer that BC Ferries needs increased capacity on the major runs and better resiliency when one of the 'majors' goes down. There are 11 major vessels now, they need 13, IMHO. BCFS needs to get on this ASAP. Waiting another 5 years for new ships is too long.

An unnamed Island Class in the Strait of Georgia, November 10 2021. Is there any way to tell which Island this is? There doesn't seem to be any distinguishing features on these Island Class ferries.

I am thinking that it is Island 5, the Kwigwis. At the time Island 6 was still on its delivery voyage so its out of the running. The first two would have had their names clearly visible and they were working their assigned routes at that time, I think. Island 3 & 4 were named already, I believe. Then there is this: Island 5 is on sea trails in Saanich Inlet.

For the lazy, no dollar figures or shipyard mentioned (though hard to imagine the latter being anyone other than the previous).

It seems like the service notices about low tides and restrictions on commercial vehicles being able to load and unload for Quadra are pretty much the rule. I don't recall seeing these notices for the Powell River Queen during her many years on the route. I know that standardization of the fleet is pretty much dogma these days, but I wonder how much research was done on how the Island class might marry up with the berths in Campbell River and Quathiaski, in terms of being able to get essential traffic on and off. It seems like there is a systemic problem that wasn't worked out properly.

I find this news release from BCFS a bit confusing. Are they building four fully electric vessels or four hybrid electric vessels with diesel engines? The release seems to indicate both ...

Quadra and Gabriola are already being served by these ships (?). There is an article posted above that talks about this. the 4 new Island Class boats will be electrified from the start, replacing the 4 existing IC vessels at Nanaimo-Gabriola and Campbell River-Quadra Island. Those existing IC's will NOT be upgraded to electric; 2 of them will be redeployed to Crofton-Vesuvius, replacing Quinsam, 1 will replace Tachek on the Heriot Bay-Cortes route, and 1 will be a reserve vessel I presume. It's a bit confusing, as WettCoast eluded to. www.timescolonist.com/local-news/battery-powered-ferries-to-operate-on-quadra-island-gabriola-routes-under-bc-ferries-plan-7678370

What route would Quinsam do after being replaced by 2 Island class? Denman-Hornby? Quinsam would bring two service to Swartz Bay to Fulford Harbour during the summer month.
