News Story HERE I love the idea but I think Victoria Regional Transit Commission should be in charge of route with BC Transit as operator because it could be intermodal and help increase transit options with passenger being able to transfer for free between buses and boats.

I would agree with 'Blue Bus Fan' on this as BCFS has enough on its plate and regional transit such as this should be run by, in this case the Victoria Regional Transit Commission. Transit would be smart to incorporate riders with bikes as well. That said, looks like the Damen-built boats would be devoid of any outdoor viewing areas. When will we ever learn?

I could see the feasibility study saying let Victoria Regional Transit Commision and BC Transit take over it for best use of money. I personally think that this will project will be eventually be taken over by Victoria Regional Transit Commision, and BC Transit with help from BC Ferries.

I don’t think that would be finally designed.

They tried to make the Compass Card work on the ferries back it the day. Well that did not happen. BC and the municipalities (and the city) wanted it, but of course, not in the way BC wanted it. Then you have BC Transit on the other side. But you could do a Translink ticket with ferry and and BC Transit ticket with ferry, then pay your trip on the other side.

Take the money for (useless) ferries and use it to build better roads then triple bus capacity.

Spending that money on turning the Goldstream - Victoria section of the E&N into a sort of SkyTrain affair would be better than the ferry, I think. The ferry has some merit, but would it be able to operate when Juan de Fuca is all worked up (which is fairly regularly in fall/winter months)?

The specific ferry mentioned in the articles on the topic, the Damen Fast Ferry 3209, can operate in wave heights up to 2.5 metres:
And on the topic of external decks and viewing areas, there appears to be one on the top deck, based upon a previous delivery of the type:

The specific ferry mentioned in the articles on the topic, the Damen Fast Ferry 3209, can operate in wave heights up to 2.5 metres: I read that spec to ... The real question is will it be a 'smooth as glass' ride for the passengers aboard in 2.5 metre seas? Or will it be clutching the motion sickness bag all the way. Juan de Fuca is not at all like Burrard Inlet.
