Out of boredom, I decided to try to find as many BC Ferries in Google Earth as I could. For anyone that has it, you can go to members.shaw.ca/a-lester/bcferries.kmz to download placemarks for the ones I could find. Some are pretty blurry. Other people have put placemarks on some already with names, so I have included those with ?s, since I don't know how reliable they are. If anyone can identify the unknown ferries and post back here, I'll make the changes. Keep in mind that not every area was captured at the same time, so a ferry could be in more than one place (ie. Pacificat at DPB and North Van), so process of elimination won't work. Also, most areas are several years old, so the current distribution of vessels may not be what's in the images. I hope some of you can help identify the unknowns. Andrew

I just took a good look, some are wrong. The North Island Princess is either the Queen of Sidney, Queen of Tsawassen, or Queen of Burnaby. If you look closely in Blubber Bay on Texada Island, you will see the North Island Princess. The unknown ferry by the Tachek at Saltery Bay is the Queen of Tsawassen. The unkown ferry near Quathiaski Cove is the Powell River Queen.

Unknown Ferry #7 is the Queen of Cowichan. Unknown Ferry #6 is the Queen of Surrey. Unknown Ferry #2, is the Queen of Nanaimo. Unknown Pacificat #1 is the Explorer. Unknown Ferry #4 is the Queen of Esquimalt Unknown Ferry #5 is the Queen of Cowichan. The Ferry labelled Queen of Prince Rupert, is actually the Queen of Chilliwack.
There's a few more that are a bit hard to tell though.

Okay, I just made these changes and re-uploaded the file. Shane, are you sure it's a "Queen of"? When I measure it, I get somewhere around 280 feet, which is far too short for Sid, Tsa, or Bur. The blur in Blubber Bay is only about 150 feet, which is too short for the NIP, so I don't think this is a BC Ferry at all. Thanks for filling in some of the unknowns.

Well they are pretty close. The ferry in the dock at Powell River is pretty long and narrow and its about the length of the dock so it has to be the Sid, Tsa, or Bur and the "blur" in Blubber Bay is right where the ferry dock is, so it has to be the NIP. And the quality of the Powell River area on Google Earth isn't to good so the photos are sort of blurry so the ferries look alot smaller and harder to figure which ferry it is.
