Where are they, how come they haven;t been doing sailings from SB-TW? I Only noticed the Queen of Saanich is doing 1 sailing, how come? And doesn't SB-TW need more ferries because it is so busy?

Right now it is the off season, so the route doesn't need the hourly sailings.

No, it is the on season now! It's April for heavens sake! Does BCFS think it is still January?

No, it is the on season now! It's April for heavens sake! Does BCFS think it is still January? The peak season traditionally starts with three sort of waves (I'm speaking RE: Tourism, not BCFS specifically). The first in University students getting out which happens over this current 2 week period. The next is seniors traveling which starts in mid/late May and the last is kids getting out of school. By no stretch of the imagination could one call this the "on-season"

What about the multitudes of tourists that run a large portion of our economy in this province? Tourists don't seem to have quite as specific of a 'wave' when it comes to BC (i'd say), it's more one gradual wave, peaking with the two months of the summer-tourist season, in July / August. I can certainly be one of your bellwethers, as I am a bus rider, and live on the principle bus-route to the ferry. If you're asking yourselves " Well, that would be annoying," I can tell you that yes, it really does get annoying... especially when the bus that those foot-passengers transfer to at Ladner starts ( as of 3 years ago) near the airport, not Ladner (one of the thoughts behind extending the ferry route was to have people take Richmond's principle route to near the Airport and transfer... just one problem: the 98 is literally the worst route in the entire system, bar none ).

I used to work in the tourist industry for about 3 years... you're right there is a constant flow no doubt, but the peak season is when I have to give myself 8 hours to get from Deep Cove to Qualicum Beach

Back to Queen of Nanaimo Teen's point though, the service notice says, on the 10th, the Saanich is doing one trip from Swartz Bay, and on the 12th, two from Tsawwassen and one from Swartz Bay; how can ir not be doing full round trips? Are they dead heading?

Saanich is probably staying at Tsawwassen as she the her first extra sailing on the 12th is out of Tsawwassen. The Saanich and Vancouver were running on Friday and Sunday so they are getting into more of the extra sailings now.

BC Ferries uses stats from over the years to decide when extra sailings should be scheduled

Are they dead heading? I've been wondering (along with others) if this is because of work (or something else?) being done to the Saanich at Tsawwassen (doesn't Swartz Bay have the same capabilities?). Or, could this possibly mean that the Saanich needs work done at nearby Deas? -- --
