Route 2 Summer Schedule

Looks like the summer schedule for route 2 has been changed. First sailing is now 6:20am with the last sailing at 9:25pm. If I recall this is what the sailings were like back in like 97 98. RBI has the Cowichan and Oak Bay listed with the Coquitlam doing extra sailings and Surrey and Esquimalt on the Langdale route. I wonder what the slight change in sailing times are cause of this summer on route 2??

I see they've instituted a 2hr, 10 mins turnaround. A slight acknowledgement of reality, I guess. But check out the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay schedule for the summer.... I think they may want to make a change there, as they've got the Queen of Tsawwassen leaving one side at 10:05pm, and the other at 10:12. Now that's a FAST ferry. Didn't know the old girl had such legs.

Hmm, it really makes it confusing when they change the Schedules for the Ferries out of Horseshoe Bay. They do that to have the Ferries coming and going from Horseshoe Bay at different times, to reduce all of the delays of the other Ferries coming and going. Remember, in the summer there's 6 Ferries that operate out of Horseshoe Bay, and there's only 3 berths, and a limited amount of holding space in the terminal.

On the topic of Horseshoe Bay, there's construction at the top of the hill now above the terminal on the Upper Levels. Meaning they're starting to break ground for the new entrance of the Sea to Sky, which is going through the Eagle Bluffs.

Isn't it exactly the same as last year?

It was such a gong show too, basically my family used this technique for getting to the island on busy days:

get there, and pray

a ferry would have to come sooner or later.

Remember that day at the end of August last year when only one ship was sailing on Route 2 for half a day because 2 other ships were broken down? I had to get home from Naniamo that day, thank god for reservations.
