According to RBI the Queen of Vancouver is replacing the Saanich on Friday. I think the Saanich might be going in for a refit! Correct, the Vancouver did a 600h sailing from TSA Tuesday morning and continued the Saanich's schedule for the day and docked at SWB.

back to comments i have made before. WHEN DO WE DO MAINTENANCE AND REFIT ON THE VESSELS! you all want these extra sailings and you want vessels that are not in the condition that the equimalt is in. so until we get new vessels and more vessels how do we get all this done without affecting the service levels. what kind of rying would be going on if they scheduled hourly service on route one for all four days of the long weekend from 7am-10pm and no vessel had more then 35% capacity used? First of all, the average of 35% capacity would not happen on a Thanksgiving Day long weekend. All three V class vessels did additional trips above their schedule. On the Friday and Monday, route 1 had 2000h\2200h trips happening, but not on Thurs. Sat. and Sun. Secondly, we all know maintenance needs to be done. However, when it is busy like today on route 1 with a third vessel sitting in port, it should be operating.

www.bcferries.com/schedules/notices/notice10160701.htmlWe've seen this bulletin before, late night sailing on route 30 this Saturday at 2330h leaving TSA. An excerpt from the bulletin, ...Anyone can take advantage of the late night sailings.
Reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure a space on these special sailings and can be made online at www.bcferries.com or by calling 1-888-BCFERRY (223-3779).That is unfair and definitely not telling the truth. Remember, the 2015h and 2245h sailings on this route are now terminated until next April because of low usage. Reservations are definitely not necessary as the ship will be nowhere near capacity, not even 75%. I know some people who were on the Q of Saanich's 2330h sailing back in the summer and said that the vessel was only at 50% capacity. This is ridiculous as there was no late sailing this past Saturday and there was a Canucks game. The inconsistency is what is hurting this so called special sailing. Do it for all the Saturday Lions and Canucks games or simply don't bother.

So are there not FANS in Victoria?? How come it is only route 30 this time. Before it was only route 1. Why not route 2 too?? Why is it only certain routes for certain games??

That is another inconsistency that is not making this so called special appealing. In the past, many Canuck fans who are from the Victoria area don't mind the long drive from Duke Point as long as it is regularly scheduled. Route 2 is a good idea as it is not that far of a drive to HSB from GM Place.

There was a power outage today at Langdale with an effect on sailings that made the news (CTV News at 5). Though it's in the past, I thought that putting it up here as record wouldn't be frowned on.

now what? The Tachek and Nimpkish are being used so what if the NIP is not avalable for a few weeks Trained orcas towing a Seaspan barge? Let's send them the Esquimalt -- if you load around the rusty spots, you might get the regular capacity of the NIP onboard. Seriously though, it is doubtful that the problem with the NIP would be "bad" enough to have to send a replacement boat up. They should be able to get most "normal" repairs either taken care of "in house" or by a local shipyard within a day or so.

now what? The Tachek and Nimpkish are being used so what if the NIP is not avalable for a few weeks If the problems end up being bad enough the Kahloke is sitting at Buckley Bay and in a pinch can be pressed back into service between Denman and Hornby Islands in order to send the Tachek to Blubber Bay, Texada Island.

I don't know if it's policy that causes them to use Tachek for Hornby every winter, or if perhaps they're not allowed to use Kahloke after a certain date, because of the openness of Lambert Channel- this might not be an option for them.

Yes, I had this in mind, though seeing how many other exemptions TC gives BCFS already and the close proximity to when the Kahloke was allowed to cross Lambert Channel, I doubt it would be much of an issue.

Service Notices - Southern Gulf Islands Village Bay - Berth Closure November 5 – December 7, 2007 Customers are advised that Berth 1 at Village Bay on Mayne Island will be closed from November 5 through December 7 for upgrades. As a result, Southern Gulf Island passengers should expect delays throughout the day, especially in the early morning and afternoon. Delays are likely as the three vessels that serve Village Bay will only have access to one berth instead of two during this time. Monday through Friday, Sturdies Bay (Galiano Island) passengers en route to Otter Bay (Pender Island) will remain on the Queen of Cumberland and transfer through Swartz Bay. This detour will result in an hour and a half longer travel time for these transfers. There will be no fee for this portion of inter-island travel during this time. Customers are also advised that during this upgrade period, cut-off times will be strictly adhered to as schedules and timing will be tight. Complete Southern Gulf Islands schedule information is available at www.bcferries.com or by calling 1-888-BCFERRY (223-3779) between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm daily. BC Ferries thanks its customers for their patience during period as we continue to work on improving service to the Southern Gulf Islands. link at: www.bcferries.com/print/schedules/notices/notice10270701.html

Temporary Repacement Vessel - MV Bowen Queen Posted November 09, 2007
Beginning Tuesday, November 13 the MV Bowen Queen will replace the MV Quinsam, which is being removed from service to undergo scheduled maintenance. This work is expected to take approximately three weeks.
Due to the limited over height capacity of the MV Bowen Queen, commercial operators need to plan their travels accordingly.
BC Ferries regrets any inconvenience this may cause and looks forward to the return of the MV Quinsam following this scheduled maintenance.
hm... Isn't the Bowen Queen on the Campbell River run right now

YIPPEE! I get another ride on the Bowen Queen This year!
Funny thing is that I would have expected her to be tied up at Departure Bay today but she isnt. The Powell River Queen was at the Sandheads last nite around 8:20 northbound via Sabine Channle.
Judging she is going to replace the Quinsam I am suprised that she was not at Departure Bay at 4pm this afternoon when we dropped my Uncle off for the 5pm ferry. The Esquimalt is in berth 1.
