Due to my next door neighbor's Music blaring away all night untill about 2:30 this morning I did not get much sleep therefor I could not make it down to Departure Bay today. However I did track the Coastal Inspiration via Victoria Traffic and hear is a Cronological order of her Transmissions:
10:58am : Inspiration is at the T.A. Bouy northbound for Entrance Island, Queen of Alberni opposing from Entrance Island.
11:25am: Queen of Prince Rupert at the Sandheads exiting the River on Sea Trials before Heading to Tsawwassen.
11:37am: Coastal Inspiration informs Victoria traffic that the vessle is switching ends, Meaining the wheelhouse at the other end of ship will be the front.
12:04pm: Coastal Inspiration traffic update Near Entrance Island will route via North of Snake Island and will wait for the Queen of Oak Bay to depart before proceeding into DB.
12:35pm: Coastal Inspiration is off of Entrance Island when it makes contac with the mv Nanaimo Harbour Patrol. The NH patrol wants to take some pictures of her and Inspiration informs her of the ferries 13:00 eta for Departure Bay.
12:57pm: Coastal Inspiration informs Victoria Traffic she is off of 5 Fingers Island inbound and will Call alongside.
13:00 eta for Departure Bay ending her Delivery voyage from Flensburger Germany, I had to go out there for I did not hear her check out.

Nice to see the sisters reunited. Now maybe it was just me but like some sisters it didn't seem like their greeting was very warm. Maybe they let off a big toot in greeting we couldn't hear. It seemed more like "Oh hi, how are you? While each one was thinking I have the nicer outfit on and am the prettier sister." I suppose the gas tanks may have been too empty for a reunion mid strait and a sail in together. Hopefully some of our lot was there getting vid and pictures and can shed some light on this family get together.

I was down at Departure Bay today as I was heading down island and was lucky enough to see her arrive at Departure Bay. I took lots of photos which I will upload when I have time. I also got photos of the CR and CI at Departure Bay which was a neat sight seeing the last time they were together was in Germany!

Here's something funny and true:
The Nanaimo Daily News had a story today about the planned arrival of the Coastal Inspiration.
The newspaper article then referred to the CI as the "Jan Brady" of the Coastal-Class, and the CR being "Marsha."
Too funny.....

I was very enthusiastic about the arrival of the CI.
I visited family members at Nanoose Bay this weekend and I had planned to return to Vancouver today.
I watched the progress of the CI on my laptop at my dad's place and hoped to see her on my trip from DPB to HPB at 12:30. I talked my brother into picking me up at my dad's place in time to catch the Oak Bay at 12:30.
I kept track on my laptop until 11. The information that I remember from that time is that the CI was to meet the CR at 1:00 and they would proceed together to DPB. I had high hopes to see them together.
I got a nice seat on the port (left) side of the ferry and waited for the pair to approach. Obviously that never happened.
The CI was waiting outside of DPB on the starboard (right) side.
There was NO announcement of this on by the ferry crew of the Oak Bay, and this really ticks me off.
If BCFS had wireless access in their vessels, especially routes 1, 2, and 30, I would have been able to discover what was really going on.
There is no legitimate reason for BCFS to not have wireless access on the aforementioned routes as Telus has provided phone service for many years.
Sorry about the long diatribe, but I was really disappointed.

I'd agree there was more interest in the Coastal Renaissance, just because she was the first of a kind. Just like the first kid usually has the most photographs.. the second and third get progressively less;) But we should acknowledge members like DENelson83, P_Keenleyside, and pnwtraveler (among others) who tracked the Coastal Inspiration's journey daily and almost hourly ... no less than the Coastal Renaissance. We did have a lot of our questions and queries answered leading up to and during the Coastal Renaissance's journey. Remember, there's also less "hoopla" from BC Ferries. There was no "sailby" in Vancouver and there will be no open houses (I think). I wonder what the Coastal Celebration's thread will be like? I think it might be longer just because we'll probably be following the promotional stops she makes.

Don't forget ferrynutseattle. Indeed. He's going to go nuts once the C. Celebration reaches Port Townsend and sails Puget Sound on her way to The Emerald City. There's a good view at the top of the Space Needle.. Yes, I knew I was forgetting someone;) Ferrynutseattle, I'm sure, will single-handedly fill 4 or 5 pages tracking CC's minute-by-minute progress in and out of Puget Sound;)

Denelson, in terms of specs, what do you exactly mean, length, width, height or something else?

Denelson, in terms of specs, what do you exactly mean, length, width, height or something else? Jon Bartlett stated a length of 167 metres, a car capacity of 470 and a passenger capacity of 2100.

That was one fast sail from Ensenada. No kidding, Paul. I had been thinking the same thing. It sure shows the contrast to the CR where they took a 'leisurely cruise'. Now it either means that the CR actually took some bad weather, or that Redwise just wasn't all that familiar with coming up the Western North American coast or something. They sure kept her humming along this time though. And while it is hard to objectively judge one transit versus another due to the differing seasons and weather conditions, the experience factor that Redwise got from the CR trip DEFINITELY helped speed up the CI transit -- how many double-ended protected-water ferries have they shoved 11,000nm prior to this?? We did see the higher numbers (18-20) in the kt's this trip around, so they obviously felt safer running CI full out than they did CR...

Even with excitement slightly waning from the "ferry hangover" from CR's open ship and the big production and dog and pony show, I don't discount the fact that there may be an "open ship" for CI. Remember, that during the open ship events you get to see all the off-limit spaces. A few emails to BCFS about the PR of another 3 city open ship even may spark things. We have a few months for them to organize such a feat before CI enters revenue service (although don't be surprised if that happens sooner than planned too, depending on post trip inspection and TC certification).
I for one missed the CR open ships due to a work schedule, and would probably try to work around a slightly less crowded CI open ship tour ...

Remember the earlier comments as well that Redwise was wanting to save money by burning gas and reducing the transit time. I don't have a moment right now to scroll for the source but it is in this thread somewhere.
