lol... I read that as "decalcification". ;D Just make sure no one else mistakenly reads it as "decal fornication". ;D ;D ;D

Those are some fantastic new shots there, Markus. Your work, as always, is much appreciated.

Hey, Brink. During the CI's delivery voyage, we noted some of the cruise ships near her delivery voyage had webcams on their bridges. Heck, Sea Launch's "Ocean Odyssey" has an on-board webcam as well. Do you think the CC could be outfitted with a bridge webcam for her delivery voyage?

Noone would like to pay the cost only for some crazy ferry fans that look on open water for 99% time of the voyage. That is quite boring. And satellite connection are extremely expensive. Would you like to pay one dollar per shot? Me and you and all the others must just imagine the view from the bridge (ocean...).

Didn't someone share their opinion during the Coastal Renaissance maiden voyage that the CC's decal job will be the ugliest and it's ironic that she's the one we're "showing the world"?? www.bcferries.com/files/AboutBCF/07-061bcfunveilstwomoresupercs.pdfI tend to agree. The women's hockey team picture is just overwhelming red and the luge photo on the other side just looks weird. If I were to rate them I'd probably go with the Coastal Inspiration first followed by the Renaissance.

CC is already back from sea trials. I took some photos of her departure, but - sorry - had no time yet to post them. (My "fisher freeward 25" needs all my time now to get ready for sailing)

With any luck they'll stop while the decals aren't so overwhelming.

Hi Markus,
Thanks for the photos! Those are great!
Seeming you have gone for a sail on both the CR and CC now, are you able to compare any differences as far as onboard experience goes? The crew on the CR are apparently complaining about vibrations. The vibrations I can only notice is the engines causing up and down ship movement. It's a low frequency vibration at say maybe 2 or 3 beats per second, compared to a constant high frequency rattle at say maybe 10 beats per second on our older ships. Would this low frequency be resolved perhaps on the CC?
I hope you don't consider this as a complaint on my part, as I'm only curious. I'm still very much impressed with the CR, and looking forward to the CI and CC. It's fun to compare sister ships.
In the book, "Ships of British Columbia"; the author, Gary Bannerman, made a reference to a question asked to one of the captains on board the Queen of Vancouver when she was brand new. He asked the captain if the Victoria and Vancouver (twin sisters at the time) if they handle the same. The captain replied, "Have you ever made love with twin sisters?", leaving the rest for the imagination.

I'll definitely get some pictures of CC when she stops at Seattle. It would be really cool to get a WSF vessel, like say Tacoma or Puyallup, and CC in the same shot, although that could be challenging depending on how and when she enters Elliott Bay.

The vessels are nearly 100% identical sister ships. Therefor their vibrational behaviour is nearly the same. The propellers rotate at the same frequency and the structure is the same. Nevertheless we always experience slight differences in their vibrational behaviour. The measurements we did on CC´s trial trip at design speed showed a little better behaviour then 734, though all vessel completely fulfill the Comfort Class+ requirements. The vibrations you are experiencing are most likely in maneuvering mode 2. The problem here is that the bow propeller does not run at its design point (here: Zero pitch). In this situation you have a lot of cavitation and therefor unfavorable pressure pulses. This is the little disadvantage you have when designing a vessel for optimum fuel efficiency at design speed. You could change the design, that you have less vibrations also at off-design points but that would lead to worse efficiency at design speed. Unfortunately you will never have an optimum at different conditions. The decision was to go for optimum efficiency at design speed to save as much fuel as possible during the lifetime of the vessel. Yesterday I was at Meyer Shipyard who are building some of the biggest cruise vessels in the world (next year for Disney Cruises) and they also only guarantee the vibrations for design speed as it is technically not possible to take all possible modes into account. This is no excuse for a little rattle during maneuvering but an explanation.
