As a P&O ferry Captain myself, I operate the 'Pride of Cherbourg', P&O Ferry to Cherbourg and have at one stage, operate each of the other, P&O Ferries.
Does anyone have any thoughts on P&O Ferries?

The P&O Ferries operate in the Dover Strait, Irish Sea and North Sea, of Europe. The Calais (France) to Dover (England) is a relatively short run for the European ferry routes, but is (if not the) one of the busiest ferry runs in the world. Our BC Ferries' Victoria route is fairly busy as well, but probably not as busy as that as there are larger ships operating there and more. Three companies operate out of Calais: P&O, Seafrance and Hoverspeed. The route (I think) is only about as far as between the Mainland and Vancouver Island. P&O Ferries operates the largest ferries in the world: Pride of Hull (I forget the other one's name). I think P&O Ferries purchased something like 40% of Stena Line's shares, so they operate a large section of the Stena Line fleet (Calais-Dover).

P&O wasn't originally brought up as a ferry operator. They operate freightors and cruise ships as well. You even see some of their containers here on the trains sometimes. They bought shares from several companies so they operate a major chunk of that company's fleet. For example: the Pride of Cherbourg was originally a Irish Ferries owned vessel until P&O Ferries bought the shares (I don't know how many, I just heard that's how they gained control of several fleets). A percentage of that company is now owned by P&O. P&O Ferries originally operated ferries started in 2002 or 2001.

P&O skipper:
I know that all members here extend you a hearty welcome, and hope that you can add some insight to our discussions.
Your experience in managing a large passenger ship will help us, I am sure.

The guy operates the pervious Irish Ferries Isle of Inishfree and they did have Stena at one point in time. The webstie is hard to navigate and I want fleet profile.
