I was down in California this past week and I got a chance to go on the Queen Mary at Long Beach. It's a hotel and a tourist attraction. It was quite neat as it was the biggest ship I have been on at any time. Even though it was just an attraction. I have some photos of it if anyone wants me to post them I can. Also got a few photos of the Catalina Island ferries. Harbourlynx Kid should like them as they are sort of like the Harbourlynx. It was interesting.

All though it is an attraction know that thing sailed from southhampton to new york back in the 30's and was once a troup ship in the war.

Yeah I know, it was interesting. I dident realize she was a war ship and carried thousands of troops. Then she went back to being an ocean liner again after the war. Kind of depressing though, I dont think I would of wanted to live in that time back then. They actually have a Ghost tour as some of the ship is suppose to be haunted and there have been paranormal activity or something like that. It was interesting!

Anyone catch the Discovery Channel special on the Queen Mary II?? What a Ship!!! One thing I find interesting, she is called RMS Queen Mary 2. I didn't realize some ships were still being named as Royal Mail Steamers. But I can tell you one thing, if I ever get the money I hope to ride her to Southampton and back.

FYI SHE LOOKS UGLY ON THE OUTSIDE! SHE HAS TOILET PROBLEMS! I WOULD RATHER WAIT FOR FREEDOM OF THE SEAS but if I had the money I would do a Caribbean trip on her with the top of the line suite.

I managed to see a bit of the show. That ship is huge! Would love to go on that one but I could never afford it!

My great grandfather took the Queen Mary over after the war to immigrate to Canada. As the legend goes he missed the Titanic. Luckily he took a boat that made it over. We have an ashtray from the Queen Mary that has a ship's propellor on the top of it.
