Has anyone ever heard about streching a cruise ship, royal caribbean is going to do that to vision, enchantement, grandeur and rapsody of the seas in the futur to contend with the voyager and ultra voyager and radiance classes.

i dont know about that, but it is possible, the QM2 was built by outting sections together. one advantage is if you find another ship bigger, all you have to do is add a larger section in the middle. so its all possible

Jee-eez!
Aren't they big enough already? Perhaps the ultimate super-sized cruise ship will stretch from Port Everglades to Nassau?
Board in Florida, wander the shops and casinos for a week, and de-bark at the bow in the Bahamas for a while. The boat will need no engines or operating crew.

Oh come on, i think the fact cruise ships are getting bigger is great, i love cruise ships for their size. I like them so much that i'm going to try as hard as possible to be a captain.

Good luck to you on your captain-becoming endeavours! I sincerely hope you make it... in time. In time before ships are rendered completely obsolete, and a fleet of robotic hovercrafts patrols the seas!!! Jets! The new ships! Ships... in the sky!!!!!!! It will be the end of civilization as we know it! Robot hovercrafts! With lasers!!! Lots and lots of lasers!!... las... hov..er... I take it no one likes my take on the dystopian future of marine travel... *sighs* And I worked... so... so... Oh the pain is unbearable!!!!! Gentlemen, I apologize for the insanity contained within this posting. I'm quite tired.

One generally becomes fatigued when one works a very long day...
I'd like to apologize for my insane rant. Sometimes I get an idea and just go with it. I've a rather bent sense of humour, I acknowledge that.

Fenklebaum: I too, have a bent sense of humour. Have you heard of the "Dennis Miller Factor"? That means that only 2% of the population gets his jokes. Same for me....I seem to wallow in the obscure subtle approach, that no one seems to understand except for me. So I totally understand, and appreciate, your late night rant a few posts back. That's what makes life interesting. That's why this emoticon comes in really handy. Everytime I see this topic of stretching, I think of exercise routines.

the ferries that were stretched were all about 10-12 years old when done. if they had of been replaced instead of stretched then you would be selling off perfectly good ships and the replacements would now be coming up on 30-35 years old and you would just be delaying the replacement time.

Royal CAribbean is doing that to another three sister ships of Enchantment of the Seas. Vision of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas are also getting stretched.
