Me, I want to be an officer aboard a cruise ship, when I was little BC Ferries but now a cruise ship. I have already planned out all my schooling, just 11 years until I am second officer aboard hopefully "Voyager of the Seas".

I'd so love to be the captain of a BC Ferry, but do some ski teaching on the side.

I would be the Captain of the Cumbie! It would also be awesome to work on a cruise ship and travel the world! Undecided which cruise ship though! Maybe the Norwegian Star!

Dan,
Have you ever been on a Norwegian Cruise Ship? They have the highest standards anywhere in the shipping / Cruise business world wide.

Dan,
Now I know a little bit more about you - I will tell you / inform you that the Norwegian built and crewed Cruise ship are the best in the World - I don't know where or what you read - but I would go back and re-read it.
If I had a choice and my life depended on it - would I go on a American built & crewed ship or a Italian designed & crewed & built ship or a Norwegian design & built & crewed ship - I would jump off all the others and get on the Norwegian ship. They look nice are very practical and extremely well built - well though out - in design & layout - very well engineered - don't often breakdown and are easy to work on and fix. They maybe expensive to built - due to high labor cost - but worth it.
Do you know who are the major design studios in the world for the Cruise ship business ? Why of course they are Norwegian - owned and staffed.
I maybe partial as I work in / within the Norwegian, Spanish and Italian markets for Ferries. If you want to read anything about the design and built of these Cruise ship let me know and I will give you a reading list to prove my point.

Dan,
Tell me which Cruise Line and which Vessel you are referring to?
One or two of the companies in Norway are owned by an American company - which are listed on the New York Stock Exchange - but run & managed by Norwegian.
You going off the point - you made a statement that ALL NORWEGIAN Cruise ship were crap - so name & shame - let's see.. which ones...

the Norweigan Star and Dawn were made by Meyer Werft in Germany you said that Norweigan Cruise Line ships were made in "Norway" sure doesn't look that way about new ships.

Cascade, the newest ship of norweigans, "PRIDE OF AMERICA" was built in Germany at I believe MEYER WERFT. There ships are very casinoish and american, some companies I'd suggest are Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America, these ships are gorgeous and the crew is international. Norweigans ships are also relitivly small compared to Royal Caribbeans Freedom-class or Holland Americas Vista-Class.

Also the norweigan ships are not crap, they are very nice, but i just would not go on one unless it was free or extremely cheap. Take a look at Serenade of the Seas and then chose. Just don't put down a cruise ship like that.

Karl if you do aver go no Norweigan Cruise lines go on the newest ships cause the older ones arn't nearly as nice and thats the same for all cruise lines. But still all the ships get renoed all the time so really when i say arn't as nice there is hardely a difference.
