So does anybody know anything new and interesting about the Albion Ferries these days? The one thing I don't like about them is that at rush hour theres like 5-10 sailing waits even though thats like 1/2 - 1 hour wait but on days like that there really just may as well be a bridge over that route even though the best part about it is it's free and you can ride back and forth on it as much as you want but that would be silly but its possible, anyone agree?

its not free, when you fuel up your tank, you spend 1C a litre on ther ferry even if you dont use it. There was a plan to slice and dice them and make them bigger, but that fell through when the Translink board found it it would only cost 4.5 Million dollars (the annual budget for the ferries) consider this though....they rejected a proposal that was 4.5 million, and yet now they have a huge controversy when they have a 35 Million dollar sortfall on the RAV project

Did anyone see on the news that the Albion Ferries are getting delayed because of the ice flowing down the Fraser from the interior? Pretty odd to see ice floating in the Fraser River in New Westminster especially with how warm it has been in the last 2 weeks.

yeah. the ships get delayed because not only do they run the props in reverse (clear ice) but they have to take time to use the ships wash to clear the landing of ice before they can dock.

Hey guys. I post sometimes over on the Yahoo board and thought it was about time that I register here.
An admin can set the permissions so that only members post on a message board. I used to have problems with that on my message board, but I changed it so guests can only view the pages. It saves a lot of headaches for the admins who don't always have to babysit the board incase some freak decides to mess around.

Hey, I was just wondering what the differences are (if any) between the Kulleet and the Klatawa. Is there any where you know of where you can find more info on these boats? Were they built by the same people; same year? Anything you know would be appriciated. Thanks

yes there are differences between the two boats. few are noticable
(1) The Kulleet Has FireWindows, The Klatawa Does Not (2) The Klatawas generators are vented via a pipe between the Windows on the WheelHouse. the Kulleets are venter off to the side. (3) All three ships(Kulleet, Klatawa, Klitsa) were built During the Same year, at the same yard.

The following was taken from Translink's website: Current Conditions Albion Ferry service is currently not operating due to mechanical problems with both of the two ferries. The following is from the Translink website: Repair crews are working hard to put one ferry back into service later this afternoon, but it's not certain when service will resume. Significant delays are expected to continue throughout the day. BC Ferries is supplying a replacement vessel, which will go into service later tonight, so it is expected that two vessels will be available for commuters on Friday Updates are published as soon as the information becomes available ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For updates, goto: translink.bc.ca/Transportation_Services/Cust_Alert/

Anyone know if any BC Ferry is allowed to operate in fresh water or does it have to be certified for that use? I know I've seen the Kaholke and/or Klitsa on the route, but I wonder if they could use the Tachek or Nimpkish or Quinitsa or Quinsam on the route? I'm pretty sure none of them would be used since the first two are single-enders and the last two are regulars on other routes, but I was just wondering about the regulations involved.

the quinitsa and quinsam are too large to operate on the route. but there is no special reg AFAIK that would not allow them to operate there
