Its time for the WSF's summer schedule again. I haven't taken a close look at it, but it appears to be more of the same with few if any changes from last summer. It seems like it would have been a good idea if WSF would scrape together a bit more money and at least try to address a few of the problem areas facing summer drivers in past years. Would such a effort help improve public relations and assist in gaining more funding from the Legislature?
(1) It would have been nice if the hours of operation for the second vessel on the Port Townsend-Keystone run were restored to 12 hours at a minimum and better 16 hours.
(2) Assign the reserve vessel MV Evergreen State to extra week-end service on a busy route that has long back-ups. If a emergency develops, Evergreen could easily be shifted to another route. Having her tied up at Eagle Harbor during these busy times does nothing to improve public relations.
Unfortunately, it looks like MOS!
