Here's a good site on the history of Marine-Atlantic. It's got some dead links, but enough stuff that kept me interested for a while. www.geocities.com/thetropics/harbor/2971/Does anyone here know of anyone who's taken one of these ferries to Newfoundland ? I'd like to take the "J&C Smallwood" some day.......if I ever get to the east-coast.

Great find! Here's something interesting I found about this little ship: www.geocities.com/stephenings/PetiteForte.html...Look at the bottom, where it says: "She became the first ship to legally sail from the United States and Cuba in 30 years (1991)"

The "mercy ship" MV Good Samaritan is operated by an organization called "Youth With a Mission", or YWAM for short.
They have a larger ship called "Anastasis", which is used as a hospital mercy ship. Anastasis means something sort of "christian like" in Greek, hence the name.
Anastasis was in Victoria in the late 80's.
I know people who have served in that organization, and it's good to know that they put some good use to those old ships.
