It's windy & rainy outside, I feel a bit tired, and so I'm staying in, and surfing the net today......looking for pictures of ferry-terminals & loading-ramps from around the world. ----------------------------- Here's something I found while surfing. This is proof, that BC-Ferries is not the only fleet in the world that has a double-ramp loading system! Some neat pics here, including an articulating interior ramp. www.willmatheson.com/photos/ps16/ferry.html

Here's another pic of a different ferry, with an upper deck loading ramp. The curvey ramp reminds me of the tight-turns at Tsawwassen. "Cherbourg", so this is France, non?

Here's how the MV Tustumena (Alaska) is loaded......I always wondered what the black coloured crane/lift on the ship's stern was for ! (the pic in the top/left corner shows the loading crane, which is part of the ship itself).

This is a terminal in the city of Canakkale on the Asian side of the Dardenelles. This is an Australian school trip to Gallipoli (a place in Turkey that's very meaningful to the Aussies and Kiwis......it's a heartbreaking history lesson). Do the ships remind you of the Queen of Alberni, in her original configuration? [ftp]http://www.macknortshs.qld.edu.au/ANZAC/canakkaleferry.JPG[/ftp] (I wanted to show the pic directly in this thread, but it's too big, and so it would make this entire thread too wide for 1 page) Here's the webpage where I got this from: www.macknortshs.qld.edu.au/ANZAC/debttourgallipoli.htm

Good find, Ultra.
It looks as thogh they took the dock at Little River, and stuck a second level on top of it.

This ship does not have a double-deck ramp ! However, it is berthed in a place where ships with double-deck loading can berth too. I suppose this one is used by the Coutances of Brittany Ferries usually but however, the "Pride of Bilbao" does not have a double-deck loading. What it looks like, the upper ramp is going at, is the upper passenger deck ! I have been on this ship twice and as far they did not convert it - look that pic here. www.faktaomfartyg.com/pride_of_bilbao_1986_b_5.htmWant double-deck loading, better look at these ones: www.faktaomfartyg.com/european_seaway_1991.htmor look at Belgium: www.faktaomfartyg.com/trans_europe_ferries.htm
