Great Lakes The U.S coast guard has announced it will be arming vessels on the Great Lakes with machine guns, CBC News Online reports. Since the Rush-Bagot Treaty of 1817 ships on the Great Lakes have been mostly unarmed.

There is no point in going paranoid about security. Even with all the new airport security here in the US, people were able to get home made explosives through all security, even with extra patrols so how is this going to help?
