Getting back on topic, are you okay with us getting together at the Nanaimo Harbour ferry terminal before the Nanaimo open ship starts?

I have reserved my seat aboard Amtrak's SEA-VAC train trip on January 20. An easy ride aboard Skytrain from Pacific Central Station will get me to Canada Place for the MV COASTAL RENAISSANCE's Open Ship that day!

Okay, it is finalized. I will be holding up my sign that says "Ferries of British Columbia Forum - ferriesbc.proboards20.com/" at the Nanaimo Harbour Ferry Terminal (where the ferry to Gabriola Island docks) starting at around 10:30 am PST. This will give other forum members the chance to rendezvous before going to the CR's Nanaimo open ship.

Good to get the word out, about this place.

Does anyone have confirmation if the open house will be at the Cameron Island visiting Pier, or at the Nanaimo Assembly dock or at Departure Bay Ferry Terminal?
They held the open house for the Pacificat Explorer at the Visiting pier but she is a much smaller ship than the Coastal R. and the Cat looked so huge at that dock. I am not sure if the Coastal R can tie up there as it is meant for smaller vessles, The Assembly dock is used for Deepsea vessles and is a far better location in My view for the size of the ferry.

There is one question I have on the Open Ship events: Will her gift store be open and selling batteries for digital cameras? I have one and uses up batteries pretty good when lots of pictures are taken.

Even if it is, if it were me, I would likely stock myself with as many batteries as I could comfortably carry. I would not be surprised to find the gift shop a very crowded place (if it is open), and probably not the most economical place to purchase supplies.

On the Northern Adventure Open House, the Gift Shop was open. It's a no brainer for BC Ferries (haha) .

BC Ferries did a news-release on their website today, re the upcoming open-houses.
The Nanaimo one is listed as: "Assembly Wharf: 11 Port Way".
I checked this on a map, and it is the industrial wharf area near the rail yards. It is NOT the visiting-ship pier beside Cameron Island.
If you know where the Wendy's is at Port Place Mall, it's across front-street from the parking lot near Wendy's.
It's only a 5 minute walk from the Nanaimo-harbour ferry-terminal.....but it's in the opposite direction from what we previously thought.

Her giftshop was open for the employee open house on Saturday, so I would assume it will be open for the public ones as well.

I found it handy to get Northern Adventure and Queen of Prince Rupert post cards during the NA's open house. It would have been pretty hard otherwise. Not as big a deal for me on the new Coastals though as I travel to the Island several times a year.

So who's planning on attending the Victoria Open House? I just recently found out that Victoria Express is doing sailings between Port Angeles and Victoria the first two weekends in February (since the Coho is out for its annual maintenance during that time), so I think I am going to do the Victoria event since that is the easiest one for me to get to.

I'll be at the Vancouver Open House. But tenatively coming to the Nanaimo open house. I'm the opposite way around. I'm tentative on both, but leaning more toward the Nanaimo one. Why is the Vancouver one on a freakin Sunday? For the Nanaimo one I'm actually considering taking route 30 to get to the island. Would anybody else be going there that I could get a ride from at Duke Point, so I don't have to take my car on the ferry. (Also, whatever happened to that rumour of there being an open house in Campbell River?)
