That does make some sense because she is in better shape than the Esquimalt but she has alot of mechanical failure. She deserves it more than the Esquimalt.

So, what would they do with the upper car deck then? For some reason, I don't ever see that happening at all..

Why use her as a truck ferry when she got the mid life in 96 she was design to run on Route 1 and Route 1 doesn't need a truck ferry and they do not need to re engine her because route 1 doesn't need the speed like route 30 does and anyway why re engine her service life is finished in 5 or 6 years.

Touy if you have ever seen the bottom deck of the Queen of Saanich I think they either have the retractable platforms or none at all. This is probably a temporary position due to the demand increase on Duke Point during the Peak Season. The Queen of Saanich can just have her platforms ripped out or just make them retractable like the Esquimalt.

Sounds crazy why use a 42 year old vessel as a truck ferry besides they got their money's worth for the V Class 40+ years sounds like a good long service life the Vic was the unlucky one though being retired early and all

Well then how about we add 40 million for a few more Super C's maybe as long as the Spirits so then you dont have capacity shortages.

Retire the ferries in this order: 1. Queen of Vancouver, 2008 2. Queen of Esquimalt, 2009 3. Queen of Burnaby, 2010 4. Queen of Saanich, 2010 5. Queen of Nanaimo, 2013 6. Queen of New Westminster, 2015

Why would the Burnaby be retired before the Saanich....The Burnaby is in alot better shape than the Saanich. Besides I bet ANY of the B-Class won't be sold until 2020 tops with this refit they're giving those ferries.

The Saanich runs on route 30 (peak season)?

Doug THE SAANICH IS DESIGNED 4 ROUTE 1 OK NOT ROUTE 30 There's not really much difference between route 1 and route 30. The platforms just need to be taken out, and it would run fine on route 30.

The Saanich was on Route 30 for a sailing earlier this year to do an extra sailing... The Saanich is no different than any of the other V-Class, other than its "fancier" interior...

[There's not really much difference between route 1 and route 30. The platforms just need to be taken out, and it would run fine on route 30. They are able to be raised right to the roof of the main car deck, and take up little space while up there...

Exactly the point why it can run on route 1 or 30. There were no plans to replace the New West so you need to have a third ship come in to help during peak times. Ghramea, the Saanich runs route 1 but it could run route 30 during peak days to releave traffic.

The V-class weren't designed for any particular route. Before the c-class, the V-class were on all the major routes. As long as the old ferries don't take too much money to maintain, it's probably a good idea to keep a few as extra vessels or to use as a truck ferry.
