Why were the Comox and Texada Queens renamed?(known as the Tenaka and Tachek today) is there some sort of reason or was it when they were brought to BCF from the Ministry of Transportation and Highways? Can anyone clue me in?

I am just taking a geuss, not to sure.
Maybe those ferries served comox and texada and when bc ferries got them they were moved to another route thus their names werer changed?

Why would BCF use a beastly name like "TACHEK" or "TENAKA" for a couple of ferries?! Probably some dictionary indian name! I think it was the Highways.

That is a very rude remark, how do you know that nobody here is native. Yes they are native names because one of those ferries has a native marking on it.
Just calm down when your writing, it's good to express ideas not ot be rude. Sorry if that sound harsh.

lol!! This is funny listening to u guys (Dave) ranting on about these ferries names! Tachek and Tenaka names suite those ferries. Makes them like tough little ferries with those names.

It just seems really out there. I thought the names are cool and yes they are native names. Why would BCF use a beastly name like "TACHEK" or "TENAKA" for a couple of ferries?! Probably some god d**n indian name! I think it was the Highways.

Your remarks are wholly inappropriate and, frankly, offensive. Tachek and Tenaka are, in my humble opinion, infinitely more beautiful than Comox Queen and Texada Queen. Not to say that their former names weren't attractive. Far from it. However, I think it's nice that not *all* of our ferries bear names which harken back to the days of the British empire and the systematic starvation and slaughter of the indiginous peoples who LIVED HERE FIRST.
What you said what incredibly disgusting.

Tachek and Tenaka are cool names! I have always liked the name Tachek. The ferry with the native markings on it is the Quadra Queen II. The sister ship to the Tachek. The QQ2 serves the Alert Bay to Port McNeil and Sointula routes.

I assume that the K-class Vessels also have native names eg: Klitsa, Kwuna, Kahloke etc...
