Yes, that summer they ran the Surrey and Oak Bay 24 hours except for Tuesday and Wednesday. They offered a reduced fare to travel at night to take some load off the regular sailings. It worked better than they thought as there were overloads all night. The other big problem was that the boats were so late and could never get back on schedule until Tuesday night.

Wow, they had sailings 24/7? Never heard of that. Never. Wouldn't the ferries get a little overworked? Doubt it.

Re Summer of '93 Night sailings:
I did that twice, that summer. Both times leaving Nanaimo on a 3:00 am sailing. Once was to travel to the Cariboo. The ferry was a bit late, but we arrived at HSB at close to 5:00 am, and I drove up Hwy 99 in the early morning to Whistler/ Pemberton, and then over the Duffy Lake Rd to Lilooet. I was in Quesnel by noon, or so.
The second time was to go to the Sunshine Coast. Again, our sailing arrived at HSB at approx 5:00 am, and I drove the couple miles up the Upper-Levels Hwy, to the turnaround, and then right into the lineup for the first ferry to Langdale. The a nice morning drive up the sunshine coast, and onto the Q-Chilliwack.
I thought that the all-night sailings were a great idea.
