Anyone know the wages of a Captain? I want some feedback of the wages of the following organizations (Captain), if you can get it or you know: BC Ferries, Washington State Ferries, Harbourlynx, Coho, Albion Ferries and Translink's Seabuses.

It's heavily dependant on the Route, and the hours associated with the run. Routes 1 and 2, is as already posted just over $100 000.
No over-time.

BC Ferries captains make peanuts, a crew member on the q of saanich said that a seaspan tugboat captain makes more.

A entry level Captain(first year at albion) would make about 45,000 - 60,000 a year + Benifits(and after a time, can be making up to 85,000(i think) a year, i beleave its close to the same for Harbourlynx(I dont find it right to ask)

Seabus. being a subsiderary of the same company (translink) probably makes the same. this would include Union, Dental, Full Medical, Paid Vacation days. etc etc.

benefits are worth about 35% of the wage so that means that if a captain makes $60,000 with benefits and wants a job with a company without benefits then s/he should ask for about $81,000. my friend on the yacht makes $90,000 and he told me he quit the ferries making about $65,000 on a smaller route. i can't say if he was a capatian or a mate or what as he does not want me to. he will divulge his financial info if i don't divulge his position. he was above the car deck and has the right transport canada papers for his job now

so if 81,000 is regular, then 90,000 is not that far away from the average

I hope you realized when you made that comment the tug boat captains make A LOT of money, it's one of the highest pay vs. lowest training jobs available in BC, according to the Ministry of Education through their CAPP classes.

Tug Boat Captains make a lot of money. Like a very very large amount, there are tug boat captains on ym street and this isn't a cheap neighbourhood. Moreover, Tug Boat Captains need a lot of skill and knowledge, but not a lot of schooling. Proportionatly to the amount of time that they spend in school vs. 1st year earnings they get paid considerably more than most people with equal education, and for that matter Masters Degrees.
